  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The thing is surprisingly when it comes to Trump, people are very selective towards his sins and believes everything he does is in the favor of God.
Why be surprised ?
Scripture tells all that is going on in mankind - from the leaders to the lowest.
The whole world is under a death sentence.
There's one way, only one way, to be saved, as Jesus always says.
The kingdom of heaven is at hand, turn to YHWH......

I think a lot Christians have been too selective on what incurs God's judgment and it colors our views on how to react to sin.

Isn't that like asking the fox to show why the fox should be allowed to guard the hens !?

What I'm curious about is if the military made their mental issues worse (it usually does for other people), or if the military gave them a sense of purpose and something to focus on and helped them with the issues they had before entering services.

I disagree with that. I'm sure Trump supporters don't generally stand behind everything he's done or said - some chose him because they considered him the lesser of two evils, and some chose him for only certain political hooks (like abortion as just one example) while disregarding the ones they disagreed with or didn't consider as important (like the wall as just one example).

I believe President Trump is comparable to King Josiah.

God bless our President!

If it is not serving God,
that is not a good thing.
If they practice ungodliness, they will suffer for it.
If they permit the perverts, they will suffer for it.
(and those with them will suffer likewise, going along with it)

Are you suggesting that in addition to banning transgender and LGB we should also ban atheists, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, etc from the military?

The military has religious people in it but, like the US government, it is a secular institution.

Wow. Someone's got a martyr's complex or something.Because I don't have a death wish, for crying out loud.Would you want your loved ones on the bus with you?
Wait...are you under the impression the Lord is sitting up there and has no idea when someone dies?
Psalm 139: 13-16 said:
13-16 Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out;
you formed me in my mother’s womb.
I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking!
Body and soul, I am marvelously made!
I worship in adoration—what a creation!
You know me inside and out,
you know every bone in my body;
You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit,
how I was sculpted from nothing into something.
Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth;
all the stages of my life were spread out before you,
The days of my life all prepared
before I’d even lived one day.
(emph. added)
If the Lord is going to bring judgement down on that bus driver He knew before the world was created that I was going to be on that bus as well. We either trust Him or we don't, if you think someones sins are greater then Gods plans for us I'm thinking you may have gotten that part wrong. :wave:
tulc(still finds the whole "would you worry about being around when God brings judgement?" idea a little odd) :sorry:

Sorry, tulc.

I can't help notice you didn't answer my question about Ai.

Maybe if you did, it would give you a new perspective on where I'm coming from?

The thing is the USA army isn't God's army, so I wouldn't adhere it to Scripture.

It seems some Christians are unable to distinguish between the two as if they are one and the same.

I think you can serve God, but the military is not a place of God not a church is.

Well said.

I wish I could click winner more than once because your post here is spot on!

It's astounding to see how many Republican evangelical Christians are willing to bend over backwards to defend Trump and even sing his praises when he does something to appease them, considering his sketchy past of sexual escapades and adultery, when the same group of Christians nearly lost their ever-loving minds over Bill Clinton's sexual scandals years ago. Talk about inconsistency.

Can you quote even one person who approves of murder, rape, stealing,
yet does not approve of perversion ?

I was referring to right winged evangelical Christians I have encountered over the years. The evangelicals I have encountered over the years lacked consistency in their attempts to be morally outraged over sexual sins (they were also lapse in their contempt against other sins, such as lying and stealing). And with that in mind, I have yet to see a public campaign or hear a moral outcry from evangelicals against pornography (magazines, movies, internet) to the magnitude I have heard from them raging on against homosexuality and transgenderism. I have yet to see a public campaign or hear a moral outcry from evangelicals about the 'sanctity of marriage' when it involves heterosexual couples who have been in multiple marriages, even if adultery was involved. According to the bible, sexual perversion of any kind (lust, sex before marriage, adultery) is sinful, but the silence from evangelicals against these particular sins is truly deafening compared to the moral indignation and moral outrage we hear from them raging against homosexuality and transgenderism (LGBT in general). These particular Christians also lack consistency in their attempts to be morally outraged over sexual sins, and many times they too are lapse in condemning other sins, such as lying and stealing or judging other people for those sins.

Actually there is a campaign against pornography, but it's not given as much focus as the gay and trans issues. Then again people have been against Christians fighting against pornography as well.

Maybe a lot of the problems with transgenders in the military or homosexuals in the military could be solved if the people who publicly opposed them, including Christians, were kicked out of from the military instead. I think we both can imagine the kind of outrage and the agonizing screams of persecution from the religious right if that was ever implemented or if the mere idea was even remotely suggested.

Didn't you hear? Christians are already persecuted in this country. War on Christmas and all. Donald Trump said so in his Boy Scout speech.

I'm fine with that ~
1) I don't care if they want to serve in the military unless it is causing issues. I'm of the mindset that I will trust those who are running the military to make this decision. I know Trump announced it but I doubt it was solely his decision, so I'm not about to complain just about him - this was a President/military decision.

2) I don't think we (taxpayers) should have to pay for their hormones or surgeries, just like how I think we should not have to pay for birth control or other stuff in the same category. My Mom has to pay a few thousand dollars for her cancer treatments while someone gets a free ride to disfigure themselves down there? No way. Not happening. They can save up their own monies (from taxypayer monies) or start a Go Fund Me campaign - I'm sure there are plenty of wonderful people out there who would support these surgeries.
