Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This. After all, even Jesus kept the company of sinners.

I don't say he would approve of their sins, but he would at least come to their level and do what he must to know them as people so that they could know the truth. Also if you don't get to witness to people then it will be more likely they won't get saved. You must get down and dirty to acknowledge yourself as a sinner in order for others to see the light. God judges, but he also gives mercy.

According to the Bible, eating shellfish is also an abomination. And according to the Bible, women who are caught in the act of adultery are to be stoned to death and witches should be killed (do not suffer a witch to live). Lying is also an abomination to God, but I'm not seeing any moral outrage or a public outcry from conservative Christians over that one. I guess it's easier for them to be complacent and overlook a sin that they would be guilty of committing themselves. Like the old saying goes, "Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones." There's a lot of cherry picking scripture going on.

Talk about wasting military funding on weirdos...

The military spends five times as much on Viagra as it would on transgender troops’ medical care

Yeah, it's better to waste military funding on spending millions of dollars on a medication that enables older men to have sex. I guess there are quite a few of military men lining up for that one.

Do you know what other commands from God are in the Old Testament? Don’t murder people. You can read it yourself in Exodus 20:13. According to your logic, this commandment must be “archaic” and not meant for modern times, since you think anything in the Old Testament must be irrelevant.

Let me explain something to you. If someone commits a crime like first degree assault and battery, it’s a serious crime and will result in prison. And if someone commits a crime like running a red light, it’s a minor crime and will only result in a ticket. Both are crimes, but there are various degrees of crimes. Likewise, sexual immorality and perversion is more serious than something harmless like eating shell fish. Why are you conflating them and acting like they’re no different in severity?

By the way, Christianity is a conservative religion. If you think Christianity is liberal and permits things like sodomite weddings, transgenderism, and abortion, then you don’t know God.

Military spending on Viagra is an entirely separate topic. You diverted attention away from the subject at hand and brought up a completely different subject. That is called a red herring fallacy.

You didn't refute anything, but nice try. The fact that you felt the need to reply to me twice is proof that I must have struck a nerve with you, lol.

I wonder why tulc had no problem answering my question?
Would you be wanting to serve in a unit of transgenders when God decides to judge them?
It's really simple: I don't have a problem serving with people who want to help others/protect their country. I don't really understand anyone who does.
tulc(was in the military during Vietnam and served with a lot of different kinds of people) :)

No, but you're more than entitled to your opinion and think whatever you like. Other than that, what I actually did was point out the usual disingenuous reactions by many right winged Christian evangelicals when it concerns to which sins they choose to be morally outraged about and which sins they generally choose to ignore or downplay. For example, many evangelical Christians will go on and on about the sins of homosexuality or transgenderism to the point of ad nauseum, but never once raise an eyebrow and be morally outraged when it concerns the current president being a serial adulterer. I could take their arguments more seriously if they were more consistent in their position against sin.

Don't look at me, I never wanted him in the first place. They should have gone with Cruz or Rubio.

I currently have no plans to serve in the military, but if it came down to it, I would. And I'd work with anyone I was assigned to work with - unless they were insufferable jerks, then I'd request a new assignment...

I don't really understand anyone who does.
Let's simplify this.

Would you want to be on a bus going down a mountainside if God decides to judge the driver for whatever sin he's living?

I'm a Vietnam Era Vet who served on Guam at the tail end of the war, but this has absolutely nothing to do with the question I'm asking.

Maybe I should go next door and ask their pre-schoolers if they would want to ... just so I can get an answer?

(Or I could ask my pastor. He was in 'Nam. But again, that doesn't matter.)

Why are some Christians overly fascinated with what God will judge other people over? As if it's any of their concern in the first place. I wonder if they put as much effort in being concerned with what God was going to judge them for, if they would find the time to obsess over someone else's judgment.

Actually it seems like an excellent question to me. If one of the reasons people don't want trans people serving in the military is because of the cost wouldn't cutting something that costs the military 5 times as much be a good place to start the cuts first?
tulc(just thought that should be pointed out

Wow. Someone's got a martyr's complex or something.

This is really extreme Calvinistic mentality going on here.
