  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The moral aspect of Trump Jr.'s actions

Didn't really want to turn this thread into 1 talking about the election but I'll say this, Trump did a far better job whipping up the frenzy in his voters than she did. I know folks who sat on their butts on election day for years past who went to vote in Nov. because Trump'd convinced them the election was rigged, and every last vote was desperately needed. Convinced them that if Hillary won their guns would be taken away the next day. I'm serious, this is what they believed. There were all sorts of "news" articles saying that on Facebook. Folks believed them. They believed what he said that she'd immediately get impeached, would send the country into chaos. So they went and voted. Too many Dems just assumed she'd win & that it wasn't worth the bother to go out and vote for her, because they didn't think their 1 vote would end up counting for much.

Well, when many Americans (democrats and republicans), are clearly showing in the polls, they are fed up with establishment politicians, this creates an appetite for many to listen to others, who are not considered establishment/elitist politicians (see Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders). No matter how you dissect this, it comes down to one main point; Hilary was a horrible candidate and the worst candidate to run with the overall negativity towards politicians in general. Hilary, is the poster child, for establishment/elitist politicians. Clinton can win local elections in liberal states (New York) but put her on the national stage (2008, 20016), she has serious issues.

Trump's basically saying that his son's immoral actions don't matter because Hillary broke debate rules. Would be nice if he had an oz of integrity for accountability.

The time honored "I'm rubber, you're glue" defense.

I was torn because I think they're both corrupt.

The election we have the most evidence that was ever rigged, was when Kennedy beat Nixon in 1960. Kennedy doesn't win without Illinois and there is a good deal of evidence, the mob turned Illinois for Kennedy, with their influence in Chicago.

In fact, I see a lot of similar qualities between the Trumps and the Kennedy's; father who made their fortune with corrupt business practices, affiliations with shady people, serial womanizers etc. etc.

The Kennedy's though, had the ability to present a perception to the public, which was able to hide what was going on behind the scenes. Also, the media back then, didn't did quite as deep as they do today.

Don't discount the benefits of dying young and attractive. Twice, even. Kinda morbid but historically it helps.

Yeah, it's immoral. Yeah, everyone else does it. I'm fine for calling for the end of such practices, but let us not ignore the fact that it is prevalent in politics in general, and both sides of the aisle in American politics in particular. Unless you want to go after Hillary's staff for their collusion with Ukraine, I'm going to take this for nothing more than a bunch of partisan pearl clutching. Same with Trump Jr. Either it isn't okay, or it is.

I don't care if you think it's fine and should be allowed, or think that it's awful and shouldn't be. All I ask is that people be consistent one way or another?

Who being inconsistent here, specifically?

Seriously, though, the Trump side is coming off a bit hypocritical since one of the big talking points was always how corrupt, dirty, Clinton, etc. were. However, the ones who are really annoying me are the Never-Trumpers, especially the politicians, who I know do this kind of crap all of the time, or support people who do, and suddenly care because Trump did it.

Don't get me wrong, if they can figure out how to make that a criminal act, awesome. I just want everyone else's butts thrown in the slammer with them, including McCain's. I think wiping out a large chunk of the lifetimers in Congress would do great for our country, tbh.

Look at the election map.
Democrats win in the big cities where there are vast concentrations of people living off the government. Remove the five largest cities and Hillary got slaughtered. The electoral vote, which is what matters, was a landslide for Trump. The Clintons are not now and never were good people. America finally woke up and realized this.

There is one advantage to the sore loser baby squall. We now know that both Comey and Lynch violated federal law on behalf of Hillary. We might get to drain the stinking swamp yet.

You are correct. If we don't count inner city people who voted for Hillary, Donald Trump wins the popular vote.

If we don't count rural ignoramuses, Hillary wins the electoral college in a landslide.

However, we count both inner city folks and rural folks, so the results are what they are.

I agree with most of what you wrote.

They're (Trump and Hillary) are both obviously corrupt. Hillary was at least corrupt within normal margins and had an understanding of government. Trump was corrupt and has shown himself to be as incompetent as he appeared.

Until about 2 days before the election, I was planning on voting for a 3rd party candidate, as I couldn't support either candidate. I did end up holding my nose and voting for Hillary as it was clear the election was going to be close, and I couldn't stomach the possibility of somehow contributing to Trump's election.

Hillary was a historically bad candidate. Trump is now a historically bad President.

Working with the mob is at least working with your own citizens. That's corruption for sure, but not treasonous like working with a foreign agent.

Democrats just love equality and the dignity of all people--until they vote for someone else. Then they're "ignoramuses." ^_^

Do you guys remember that guy who had to abort his presidential campaign because he once screamed to loud?
Yes, I can't remember the television shot of it, but on the radio he did sound like a mad man. He seriously sounded insane.

A) I'm not a Democrat.
B) I support the rights of all people, including ignoramuses.
C) Whether people are ignorant or educated is independent of who they vote for.
