  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Recreating the image of Jesus

I have tried to recreate the image of Jesus the best I could, and put the image in a youtube video. What do you think?

That is the Shroud of Turin image, isn't it?

What 'recreating' did you have to do?

I had to insert the eyes. I have painted macaws and find that the eye is the difficult thing to paint, as it gives the image the most character. I am more pleased with the left eye than the right on this particular image.

Fair enough, except you have added positive eyes to a negative image. I didn't notice a credit to the original image you used, though. Always safest.

I think, "why is this even posted here?" Your ability to slightly alter an already-existing pictures is not a theological issue. If this is solely an artistic question, try the Visual Arts section. Did you simply want to plug your video?

I cannot post images from my Photobucket site here anymore, dont know why. So the video was the next option.

Photobucket recently changed so that people can no longer post their Photobucket images on 3rd party sites unless they pay through the nose first. It's a rather controversial change. Images can still be uploaded and kept there for free, but they can't be posted elsewhere unless one has a paid account.

Thanks! I may have to find a different way!

I think you did good . Personally I don't care to speculate what Jesus looked like, I don't have any and refuse to take serious at any depictions of him .. I did see an old Biblical movie once showing only the characters hinder parts, very well done and appropriate imo . I am excited about the Shroud and the implications but it looks like someone distorted with a stocking over their head to me as far as image goes . Just being fair, I think most pictures of Jesus tend to flatter him, The Word says flattery is worse than lying, just my little hang-up I guess and I have no problem at all with people who love their Christ art

Umm ... The "shroud" of Turin is a piece of artwork made in the 1300 AD, and has no more relation to what Jesus looked like than a picture of Henry the 8th. Jesus was a Jew from the Middle East. He looked like a middle easterner, not like the Italian distorted face shown in the artwork you posted.

Probably like any of the Middle Easterners shown in this picture.

None of that is proven.
