Matthew 12:35-37 (NKJV) "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."

I've said things to others in these forums that shouldn't have been said, setting a poor example of what it means to be a Christian. I feel shame because of it. But I can't change the past. I can only do my best to do what is right from here on. And hopefully, I will honor God by being a light to others.

Why am I telling you this? Because it is easy to become mean-spirited in places such as these (forums). Someone says something you don't like, you get offended and feel the need to retaliate. But you don't need to go there. You don't even need to say a thing to them.

James 1:19 (NKJV) "So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath"

Proverbs 15:1 (NKJV) "A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger."

No doubt you will encounter abusive people in forums. People who will be judgmental, rude, and condescending towards you. Some may even follow you around from thread to thread, looking to pick a fight with you.

Don't fight back. That's what the devil wants. Instead, take the high road, and move on.

Remember who you represent: What would Jesus do? This is what you need to ask yourself before responding to anyone.

Spend time each day examining how Jesus behaved towards others (as recorded in the gospels). Do as He did. You can never go wrong following Jesus' example.

Matthew 5:9 (WEB) "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God."

To become free of shame from wrongs we have done after we have converted, in relation to God we have the amazing grace that we need only confess and repent, sincerely, from the heart, and He will forgive. Also, we can confess in contrition to others we have wronged as we can find them. This is very humble, but being humble is required by Him. He even said in relation to being humble, "Unless you change and become like one of these little ones, you can never enter the Kingdom of Heaven."
Thus we can be freed from the guilt and shame. We know that all sin, all are sinners, and He came to call us sinners to repentance. "I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." -- Luke 5:32 So that's all of us.

God have mercy, yes.

It's been a real struggle. Bottom line is....it was my will vs God's will, and i wasn't so sure i should bow to His will or anybody else's. My tongue could slay big bad ol' drug dealers, bullies, and corporations. It used to be lots of curse words so bad that i'd make up curse words cuz there just wasn't enough. His inexplicable grace, however, expunged what i could not, and in the place of rage, He poured in my heart compassion and empathy and awareness of how those words (and that rage) was unnecessary. He enabled me to TRUST Him. And in trusting Him, i was able to see more clearly how very much alike me n' the ones i was raging against were, in that we were ALL sinners and only by God's grace and mercy could ANY of us be transformed. I'm still learning about the tongue, and God has slowed me down a LOT. I still can smell a bully or a manipulator ten miles off, however, and i pray real hard not to wallop them with my tongue.

He is GOOD. He has curbed that urge.

Mostly.

^_^

Amen. It's the recognizing and then confessing them that can be a stickler.

Yet, by His grace He opens our eyes to what we were once blind to and we get down on those knees and confess them and grieve that we didn't just sin against others, and ourselves, but we sinned against GOD. We grieved His heart.

God help us, ev'ry one :groupray:

"If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God.." (1 Peter 4:11)

"If any man offend [harm] not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body." (James 3:2)

"But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be." (James 3:8-10)

"..let us not love in word [promise], neither in tongue [talk]; but in deed and in truth." (1 John 3:18)

Yeah, can't find it at this point but seems like there's Scripture that says you can try a couple of times to convey information then let it go.

Overall we're to avoid variance and strife (Gal 5; Titus 3:9).

Oh, how it aggravates me with myself when I get upset, offended, etc. because that means I've got more stuff I need to let Yahweh deal with me concerning.
