  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Put the music on in your room, stand there and listen to the music. Hear the beat and then move.
I remember being at a restaurant/bar/dance place. This couple was out on the dance floor having the time on their life. But neither of them could move to the beat of the music. I thought it was great they were out there having such a good time. So dancing is more about letting go of ones self consciousness than having some eye catching move. Practice at home and then go public!

This is good advice. I first "broke out of my shell" while I was locked up in an insane asylum. I figured I'm already crazy and locked up with other lunatics so what do I have to lose. Also, after reading thru the Bible about how David danced before the Lord I made a decision right then and there to incorporate dancing in my worship before God. My way of thinking was that I wanted to do it before (Lord willing) I got too old to move around a lot. Thankfully, I was going to a couple churches at the time that gave the freedom for people to do that kind of stuff. I've kind of settled down these days but every once in a while I get up and do it in the privacy of my home.

Dancing is an activity which I have very little interest in doing. So at any events where dancing ends up happening, I'm going to be sitting on the sidelines not partaking.

Which I don't have a problem with as I'm happy not dancing while others are clearly happy dancing. But what does annoy me is when people try to get me to dance. They just can't seem to get their heads around the notion that someone might not want to.

The pursuit of happiness has lead me to the dance floor since I was a toddler! Even before I started dance classes at age three it was a passion. A seed of love for dance feels like it was embedded in my heart when I was born, and has blossomed into whole gardens within me over time. I dance every day. We converted a guest room into a dance studio with the proper floors and a barre, and it's where I begin my mornings. I love taking dance classes, and also just casually dancing when the mood strikes, ha.

One of the most fulfilling and enjoyable experiences I've ever had with dance was working with the Neuroscience department at my school in studying how dance can help people with Parkinson's Disease. We met with people who have Parkinson's twice a week and taught them how to dance. I loved dancing with them. I met some of the coolest people.

I most love choreographed dances that evolve into freestyle. Everyone begins in unison, and then breaks off and lets the music lead them.

i really like watching dances.

I'm feeling nostalgic, so I'll share a couple of dances you might like:

:)

dance! dance! dance!
Her timid dance lighting his eyes
did wive his lungs now fluting for her,
sweet pluming grapes. No wine defies
her timid dance lighting his eyes
with steps more rosed than ravished cries
of maidens marred among a pasture.
Her timid dance lighting his eyes
did wive his lungs now fluting for her.

I had a sweet experience at a playground I brought my little sisters to when I was goofing around dancing and doing acrobatics, and then a little girl we'd never met before sweetly copycatted me. :D I shared this on Facebook (with the permission of the girl's mom) and am still getting comments on how cute she is:

I was part of a song and dance group in college and we competed with Broadway style dancing. Super fun!

Lately I've been taking the occasional partner dancing lessons, but I'm fairly limited by my busted arm.

Also I am constantly dancing to my own music very poorly.... that's the most fun kind of dancing.

I don't know when you made that video in the Truth or Dare thread with you raising the roof but your arm seemed to be doing fine there.

I suppose saying arm was confusing. It's my wrist that's bad. I recently had my main wrist bone removed and some others fused and screwed together so I'm very fragile right now. I can pump in the air, but I can't take any pushing or pulling on it at all right now, which eliminates a lot of dancing. Also, that wasn't raising the roof, that was numa numa :)

I love to dance, mostly spanish styles, salsa and bolero are my favorites though. also do a lot of free styling, there's nothing like getting caught in the flow and following it wherever it goes.
