  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Not so, since Adam's solid firmament or the boundary of his world was made on the 2nd Day. Gen 1:6-8 Nothing is said about atmosphere.

Here is the text --

6 Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.” 7 Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. 8 And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day.
9 Then God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so. 10 And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters He called Seas.

6 Then God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” 7 God made the expanse, and separated the waters which were below the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse; and it was so. 8 God called the expanse heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day. 9 Then God said, “Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so. 10 God called the dry land earth, and the gathering of the waters He called seas (NASB

20 Then God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.

20 Then God said, “Let the waters teem with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the heavens.” - NASB

I disagree of course as the Bible doesn't teach the principle of continuity. The Big Bang has so many problems that even according to science it refutes itself. (If this principle was true then why didn't Jesus mention it?)
I feel basing your scripture interpretation on science is like building your house on sand. What happens when the Big Bang gets rejected?
The Bible foundation is LIFE created the universe while modern day science foundation is the universe created life. One is solid as a rock while the other is self refuting.

To be fair, Jesus didn't mention a lot of things, including:

-slavery is wrong
-how to create medicine that would save people's lives
-how to increase lifespans
-how to create technology that would improve lives and take us to the stars
-tell us what could be trusted in the future and who couldn't
-show us visions of the entire universe so everyone knew it

Etc. etc. etc.

Now look who is the literalist.

I was simply implying, by the term believer, that they were saved. Sorry I didn't go into enough detail.

Maybe I should have said, "If you are born again" instead of "if you're a believer"

Where did you get the faith to believe?

Put a firmament or hollow sphere into water. When water has completely surrounded the sphere, you can be sure there is water above and below it. The firmament or boundary of Adam's world protected the interior of the firmament from the water which totally surrounded it. God called this firmament, Heaven. It's the first Heaven. It will contain Adam's Earth, Seas and Atmosphere on the 3rd Day.

Lord God made other HeavenS (plural) on the 3rd Day. Gen 2:4 That means there were at least THREE Heavens/worlds which were made by the 3rd Day. Amen?

Amen. Jesus is God and He knows how the end times, we live in today, will end. He also knows that knowledge from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil will increase in the last days, thus allowing increased evil to thrive and bring about the tribulation, which will destroy Billions of mankind which He made to live forever. It's a Father's love which guides Him. God Bless you

From people I loved and trusted who explained the matter to me, whose faith was manifest in how they lived their lives.

How did mortal men give you the faith to believe that a man could rise from the dead? Or did they give you faith to believe in a denominational view? just like their view?

As I said, because I loved and trusted them and saw their faith in the lives they led--just like they were given it, all the way back to the companions of Christ. Of course I believe in a "denominational view" as set forth in the Nicene Creed.

You don't seem to know that it takes a special kind of Gift to have a saving faith that Jesus rose from the dead. First, God the Father MUST draw you to Jesus.

Jhn 6:44 No man can come to Me, except the Father which hath sent Me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

What you are telling us is what the faith of your relatives did for you. It drew you to God's Truth but if it stopped there, you would be lost. The next step is to pray that the Father will give you the Gift of Faith to believe.

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

But if Speedwell's family didn't introduce him to God/Jesus, like if he had grown up atheist, Muslin, Hindu, whatever, then he likely wouldn't have. Religion tends to be cultural, and we're all technically born agnostic until we're taught by our parents/relatives/adult figures to be believe in a certain ideology.

Amen, which is my point. Unless one's faith is based on God's Holy Word, it is nothing more than faith in men's opinions. There are more than 30k men's opinions (denominations) or religions. There is but ONE way to be born again Spiritually by God the Trinity, Scripturally.

Mat 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

Ok, now you are just going in circles.... way off the main point of my post.

Here's the answer.

eb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

Oh, I see your point, thanks for clearing that up. :)

So then what is the closest denomination to fulfilling that view?

Right. Except it wasn't my relatives.

The Anglicans, of course.

What is it about the Anglican denomination that makes it the most credible? Wasn't the Catholic church the one directly founded by Peter, who was the first Pope from Jesus passing the torch of leadership to him?

ANY Bible believing group which teaches the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is His death burial and resurrection according to the Scriptures. It's the POWER of God unto Salvation. Rom 1:16

That is not the way it works. The thin skin of the planet has a thin atmosphere around it. That is the easy part.

In Genesis 1 we are told that the birds fly in that .
