  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Are bilocation and levitation gifts of the Holy Spirit? Those are magic tricks and of the enemy.
You mean like walking on water like Peter or being carried away to another location like Philip or entering locked rooms like our Lord after His resurrection?

What is the stigmata? | carm

t is probable that the majority of the stigmata that occur with Roman Catholics are the result of self-induced psychological fervor. The human brain is very powerful, and there are numerous accounts throughout the medical field of physical manifestations in the body due to emotional excitement and belief. So, it's with great reservation that anyone should consider the stigmata to be legitimate.

To be able to tell people their sins may not be "the gift of knowledge" which God gave to the apostles before the completion of the written New Testament. It reminds me of those magicians who have a hidden listening device in their ear. They also have an assistant who talks to "someone in the audience." The assistant gets info from the "someone" and secretly relays it through a communications device to the magician. This can also be done without devices, by using key words as codes. Imagine that demons observe people sinning. They then appear as angels of light to the priest, or impersonate the priests own thoughts so that the priest thinks they are their own thoughts. The sinners comes to confession, the demon informs the priest of their sins, and then the priest tells the sinner theirs sins before they even confess. Both the priest and the sinner are deceived in what is really happening. Pretty clever of the adversary.

How do you know reading souls wasn't of God? It isn't listed as a gift of the Holy Spirit, or the other reasons?

You are right. It isn't listed as a gift. "Reading souls" is somewhat foreign to my understanding of Scripture. I do remember Ahija, the prophet, being told by God that King Jeroboam's wife was coming in disguise to him to ask what would become of their son, Abijah, for he had fallen sick. When she arrived he let her know he knew who she was, and what she wanted to know from him before she even had a chance to ask. 1Ks 14:1-12.

What about the people he allegedly healed? Would you say anything not listed as a gift of the Holy Spirit is a trick of the enemy?

No I would not, and I forgot to mention that I don't know absolutely for sure, 100% (though probably 99%) that this was not of God. God can do whatever He wants to, and can work outside the box, as long as He doesn't contradict His own Word. It is the Word of God that is to back up things with authority, not our feelings, opinions, or what we see or experience. What we see and experience can easily be misleading and misunderstood.

Justin Peters said Holy Laughter isn't of God because it isn't in Scripture-would you agree with that?

. Christian Mysticism is not bibical.

I agree that Christian Mysticism is not biblical. Define Holy Laughter for me.

What is the goal of this-to merely take people away from the truth of God's word?

When people act crazy during worship basically.
LOL!!! That is not even what I thought you meant, but now that you mention it, I have read about this.
I am sorry if you believe in or experience "Holy Laughter" but I can say with all confidence that by how you have explained it that it is definitely not of God. I am not against laughter in general, if it is not over that which is sinful, ungodly, or in poor taste. I believe God has given us the ability to enjoy a good sense of humor and laugh, and at first I thought that might be what you were talking about, not this religious, ungodly thing called "Holy Laughter."

What is the goal of this... what do you mean specifically by "this."

The ability to tell people their sins. Is that to take people away from the true message of God and glorify religion?
I would say it is. There is a thing called, and a book title by the name "The Beautiful Side of Evil." Satan and his ministers will disguise themselves as the ministers of light. 2Co 11:13-15 They will appear as godly when they are not. They will associate themselves with the things of God (church, good works, spirituality) etc., to deceive people into following them, making people think they are worshipping God when they are actually following demons. "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;" 1Ti 4:1

Is the point of this just separation from God? Do you think the saints could have been misled by religion and genuinely love God

I read a book by Rose A Inguita which said something about believing in apostate doctrine is related to lying signs and wonders.

How can you tell if something is of God? I've had doubts that this is of God. Angel-Like Giant Winged Humanoids Sighted In Space! , page 1
