The reasons those things were remembered badly is because they were done for religious reasons. And the church needs to avoid violence as a policy. I agree. Trouble is our justice and punishment is ineffective. Talk is cheap. These gangs have been around for how many years and they're stronger than ever. The government sits on its hands and blows smoke and everyone puts on their vagina hats and nothing changes. As soon as someone gets into office who might try to do something, everyone has a fit. I tell you people, it's time to do something. Maybe not what I say, but doggone it, SOMETHING. And if it means someone gets hurt, then it's about time.

The comment refers to a mindset that I reject when it comes to dealing with obvious criminals. I tend to love victims more than perpetrators. There is no sympathy in me for the bad ones. They need to be stopped and gotten rid of. I haven't seen it happening yet on any meaningful level. Anyone can hopefully get saved, but if evil is their purpose, they can be damned.

Joshua Stewartreport by the Pew Research Center released Thursday.

About 170,000 unauthorized immigrants live in the San Diego region, 13th among the 20 metropolitan areas with the largest populations who are in the country illegally.

San Diego is tied with San Francisco at 11th in percentage of unauthorized residents as part of total population, data from the study shows. San Diego County’s population is about 3.2 million.

The report, like past studies, shows that some regions have a disproportionate share of the people living in the United States illegally. The 20 areas researchers considered are home to 36 percent of people living in the country, but 61 percent of unauthorized immigrants. These regions are even more popular with legal immigrants. Among that demographic, these regions account for 65 percent of people living in the United States but were born in another country.

I actually don't see how Christianity is compatible with the idea of national borders so I don't find statistics about the number of illegal immigrants in the country particularly compelling.

As to how the church treats criminals, well, Jesus spent most of his time hanging out with them. The government has a secular mandate to maintain law and order, and naturally we want to remain safe by seeing people respect those laws. That doesn't mean that we should share the government's views on how to interact with criminals as members of the Body of Christ, especially since we should have a view toward welcoming them to the communion table just like He would have done. I think if a Christian is concerned about a criminal receiving punishment he should simply reassure himself that God will handle that rather than taking pleasure or feeling vindication in the suffering of another human being.

Then it doesn't fit.

It is your assumption that the women in that march, or others who would wear such a hat love the perpetrators more than the victims. It is a wrong assumption. One can absolutely love the victims more and yet expect that we behave in a Christ-like manner when it comes to the punishment.

If the ones with kind hearts towards illegal immigrants had one family member harmed by one of these ones that should not be here -- no doubt they would want them all sent back home ASAP.

I as a City of San Diego Parks employee have witnessed their terror imposed on a few for over forty years.

Note: a few is too many.

We see this all so often in San Diego County.
Please help us to remove -- PROTECT OUR CHILDREN!

Locking these illegals up here in our prison system is not going to stop them from committing the offense again. Our prison system to them is like living in a luxury suite. In their country they barely eat a meal once a week and to have a bed to lie in. And the prison system in their country does not keep them incarcerated for a very long period because they cannot afford to housed them. But they loves having Americans in their prison system.

Border jumpers are down 70% since Trump was elected into office.
Truth is many have decided not to come over (illegally), knowing they will be sent back home.
True -- the wall built in some areas will improve this matter even more.

Question -- what's wrong with a wall.
Most ALL countries have walls and fences.
Why should we be different?

Please -- let's be fair to the ones who have been patiently waiting in line.
These ones seem to obey our laws -- a good start for a new citizen!

When I used the term vagina hats I was not thinking about any woman's attitude toward criminals. You know what I've been saying. But this conversation really does illuminate how hard it is to accomplish any meaningful effort to solve the country's problems. There's just too much drivel that keeps getting in the way. It is getting obvious that little will get done to solve criminal activity. And I don't think Jesus spent very much time at all hanging out with actual criminals. These days, to say to behave in a Christ-like manner is very close to saying do nothing.

Yeah, you know, just the prostitutes, adulterers, corrupt tax collectors, violent political rebels, religious zealots, etc. Oh, and he promised a thief on the cross that he'd let him enter heaven. Put yourself in the context of back then, Jesus was heading out and preaching forgiveness and spending most of his free time with the worst his society had to offer.

Behaving in a Christ-like manner is to remember that He didn't come for the good people. He came for the ones that need Him most, and likewise we should be continuing His work of reaching out to those people instead of calling for their deaths or mutilation.

Criminal behavior is understandably very frustrating, causing anger and fear and we'd like people not to engage in it. Being Christ-like is continuing to love your neighbor even when they scare or anger the heck out of you. Even if they kill somebody or worse.

And c'mon, crossing an imaginary line has got to be the least offensive crime I have ever heard of. Sure, some criminals do it too, but we've got plenty of homegrown criminals, being an illegal immigrant doesn't somehow make it worse. There's just no reason at all for the level of vitriol that the immigration issue generates.

Being Christ like I think, has nothing to do with not punishing the bad hombres as Trump calls them.
God has always set many, many laws into place.
And also puts those into positions to carry out those laws.

I'm not just picking on illegals. Even home grown criminals need the same treatment except for the deportation. My Christianity is not like many here. I don't believe in any brotherhood of man and attach limited significance to being made in God's image. Although I believe in the new covenant under Christ, I see its application as being usurped by people who ought not be in authority over these things and are little more than a cancer. As Christianity is going in this country we are either losing it or changing it into something I cannot recognize any longer.

So...you reject the idea of the Body of Christ and in the death of Christ for the (possible) redemption of all mankind?
