Mask wearing is not illegal.

Not yet.

With that said, why do you think they need to wear masks?

If I had to guess, it'd be because the protesters 1: don't want to be associated with the criminals, and/or 2: don't want to suffer the repercussions when their families, peers, employers, etc., associate them with such politically incorrect behavior.

Well it also doesn't help that the media likes to control our minds by only showing unpeaceful protesters in masks. They never show us the protesters on a day to day basis that protest peacefully. Just like when theres a terrorist attack they talk about any little event going on terrorist related to make it sound like terrorist attacks are happening all the time and the worlds ending. Or when they show a cop shooting someone and make it out like this is common every day. But never show the thousands of police things that go on daily that go perfectly normal.

This is why theres nothing wrong wtih wearing a mask since most of the time its done peacefully and to protect the person from hatred. Which as this topic shows, many people have hatred for people in masks no matter the situation. I wonder how many of these people complaining have family that served in the military. Because your family served to make sure we have rights such as wearing a mask. Because when you complain about masked people, you insult your own family who served to allow those people those rights.

unpeaceful? You mean violent?
Yeah. If you protesting, maybe shouting a bit then its fine. But if your physically touching people, throwing things, threatening people with weapons...then your not being peaceful.

Well technically touching someone is not violent. Shoving them is. Punching them is. But tapping them on the shoulder is not. None the less masks still aren't illegal if your peacefully protesting.

I am against the method. Its your freedom to wear a mask. I'd fight them and rather be arrested then take off my mask. And if they arrest me I'd sue them for violating my rights. There is no law that says I can't wear a mask. Especially in a digital age where one picture (or in this case video) means people can see your face and find you online and harass you.

For example, Anonymus all use the Guy Fawkes mask. I don't always agree with the group but I like they all use the same mask to stay anonymous. If you are forced to not wear a mask then I say change the laws so you can do nothing anonymous anymore. Like giving tips to the police and FBI. You have to prove who you are first. You'd see how fast people would chang their minds on the issue.

Thats pretty much stereotyping. If I said "Why be a christian unless you want to tell others how to live?", how would you feel? We can't say a whole group os mask wearers are all bad and want trouble. If I had to protest to make sure my christian rights weren't violated. I'd wear a mask too.

There's a huge difference between just minding your own business, walking about, wearing a face mask, and violating other people's rights and hiding your identity by wearing a face mask while you're throwing fists, tossing bricks, bottles and M80's at people. One of the people who were unmasked, were found to be a university professor. How charming.... But, I can see why he wanted to hide his identity.

If you are alone, no problem. When you get into a crowd of a dozen or fifty others wearing masks, that is a riot waiting to happen, because you think you're anonymous.

Lawsuits? Unless you're in SF, and maybe not then, no jury would award you a cent.

Red herring. I know you didn't just compare a little kid to these leftist punks who cause mayhem and damage everywhere they go?

More likely because when they turn violent, they don't want to be identified by police.

But can you prove a group of people with masks may riot? Or is it your assumption based on the rare occasion of violence?

Well many say masks are bad and only bad people use them so they can do bad things. I guess this means kids wear them for the same reason. If not then people should instead say "Not everyone that wears a mask does so for the reason of causing problems."

I do not understand why, a white nationalist, was invited to speak, at this university? Especially, as Alabama, it is known, for having a history, of racism, yes? It's very shameful. Was this an act, of trolling, or meant to be sincere?
Spencer's talk was initiated and set up, I believe, by a libertarian who was interested in inviting one the alt-right's primary figureheads and providing space for an open exchange and discussion of the ideas surrounding the alt-right. I don't see where shame comes in here.

It should not be illegal to wear a mask while protesting!

If the protest turns violent, however, wearing a mask while committing a criminal act should carry an additional penalty!

I can see the logic in this, but on the flip side, I see the innocent protesters far more likely to suffer because of this than the violent agitators.

This has been too long in coming. Arrest anyone masked at every protest as possible terrorists or rioters. Chances are good that they are armed and planning mischief.
Because in America, you're always arrested for being a possible criminal, and thrown in jail because chances are you were planning something illegal.

And since when is being armed a crime? Second Amendment, anyone?

Bolding mine!

Rare? Hardly, it is the norm not the exception when talking about those showing up to protests masked.

The red herring of kids wearing masks is getting very old.

Auburn University Police to Protesters: Remove Your Masks or Be Arrested

If you are going to protest, take off your mask.

I fully support the method.

Is wearing a mask a crime?

If it is not, then one cannot be arrested for wearing a mask.
----------
Is protesting a crime?

The Constitution of the USA is supposed to protect the right of people to peaceably assemble:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

So protesting, in and of itself, is not a crime, and is supposed to be a Constitutionally protected activity.

Vandalism, destruction of property is not protesting. Vandalism is a crime. So unless an officer actually witnesses a person vandalizing property, that officer has no right to demand, with legal authority, for someone to remove there mask. The 1st Amendment makes no specification of clothing being worn or not worn.

For police to demand a person to remove a mask, if they have indeed not violated a law, is unconstitutional as the law of the US currently stands. This is the police state that we now live in, that police demand compliance with their commands that are against their civil rights. Not saying that all officers do this. But there are indeed Police Officers who greatly abuse their authority.
