  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A few questions:
1. Is this guy somehow a spokesman for Cadbury?
2. Is Cadbury somehow forbidden from making non easter themed candy?
3. does Cadbury's website listing "easter and christmas" themed candies in the list of halal items a figment of my imagination?

Also, since when were Cadbury Creme Eggs ever called Cadbury easter eggs?

More outrage over nothing?

They have never been called "Easter Eggs" to my knowledge.

Look at the entire link I provided. You see packages of products and advertising including the word Easter.

No one said the word Easter was banned.

Look at the OP video before commenting, please.

Who said "banned"?

Cadbury removes word “Easter” from Halal certified “whatever” eggs
If the claim is that they "removed the word easter," it would logically require that the following be true:
1. Halal creme eggs used to be routinely labeled as easter eggs (this is what I'm disputing based on never seeing a cadbury creme egg labeled as a cadbury easter egg)
2. Halal creme eggs are now not labeled as easter eggs. (I cited their website that still lists the eggs under their easter seasonal products and the snopes article shows several examples of some products continuing to prominently display "easter")

0:47 "Cadbury claimed in a tweet that they didn't ban the word ... [but] I went over the wording on the package and it's AWOL"
2:06 "easter terminology is verboten on the front of the package"

When did Cadbury ever have "Easter" on Halal certified eggs? Islam doesn't celebrate Easter.
Cadbury makes other chocolate eggs designed for Easter and Christmas and inbetween.

What do bunnies and chocolate eggs have to do with the resurrection of Christ anyway?

They probably removed Easter from the title because they want to open up to a wider audience. If they are Easter eggs then you automatically think they are only for Easter, but if they remove Easter from the title then they are for any time of the year.

Turns out before 1971 they were known as Fry's, in '71 Cadbury bought them out and rebranded them as the Cadbury's Creme Egg.

A Fry's Creme Egg from 1963 was discovered, unwrapped, fifty years later and is discussed here:
Cadbury's chocolate find: Oldest Creme Egg discovered fully wrapped after 50 years | Daily Mail Online

It would seem these time travelers are pretty good, almost as good as those time-traveling Jesuits who went back into the past to invent Islam according to Jack Chick.
