  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

LDS The 'beginning' of God in Mormonism

Is it true that Mormons believe Jesus and Satan are Brothers?
Do they believe man through works can be God or a God?
What was Joseph Smiths view on the Free Masons?
Did Joseph math consider himself a High Priest in the order of Melchizedek?
Was Joseph Smith a mystic that found treasure with seer stones?

Would God be joined with a Harlot?
I'm confused: how are any of these a response to how an unchanging God doesn't stop talking to His followers? Let's try to stay on topic.

Why would God give another revelation of Jesus Christ ,when it was finished by his atonement ?
It is illogical , Christ sprinkled his blood one time on the mercy seat it is finished either you accept Christ as God or you don't.
God does not change and he did not change for Joseph Smith.
The Bible tells us that false idols are a abomination and those who worship them will go to the Lake of fire if they do not repent and turn from idolatry.

Yes, but the Book of Mormon gives us another witness to his atonement.

2 Nephi 29
11 For I command all men, both in the east and in the west, and in the north, and in the south, and in the islands of the sea, that they shall write the words which I speak unto them; for out of the books which shall be written I will judge the world, every man according to their works, according to that which is written.

12 For behold, I shall speak unto the Jews and they shall write it; and I shall also speak unto the Nephites and they shall write it; and I shall also speak unto the other tribes of the house of Israel, which I have led away, and they shall write it; and I shall also speak unto all nations of the earth and they shall write it.

13 And it shall come to pass that the Jews shall have the words of the Nephites, and the Nephites shall have the words of the Jews; and the Nephites and the Jews shall have the words of the lost tribes of Israel; and the lost tribes of Israel shall have the words of the Nephites and the Jews.

14 And it shall come to pass that my people, which are of the house of Israel, shall be gathered home unto the lands of their possessions; and my word also shall be gathered in one. And I will show unto them that fight against my word and against my people, who are of the house of Israel, that I am God, and that I covenanted with Abraham that I would remember his seed forever.

We fully expect more scriptures to be found one day adding even more witnesses to Christ and his saving grace.

Vogel does not show there was in contradiction just different views, and he's trying real hard to make you think the men were hallucinating.

In Acts when Paul sees his vision it is spoken of several different times and each time it is told a little differently. Dan Vogel would say he was hallucinating after all he can’t get his story straight.

Once again, and for the last time, it is immaterial what Vogel personally believes in, because we are dealing with discrepancies between the statements published in the front matter of the BOM and other statements of those same people, not the content of the Book of Acts or this other stuff.

Vogel is correct to point out several statements which make the witnessing to the reality of the plates seem less reliable than the official statements (which, as I understand it, were neither signed nor given by the witnesses themselves, but were composed later for them) would have us believe.

Quote :Carm

The translation was finally published in 1830 as the Book of Mormon. Joseph claimed that during this translation process, John the Baptist appeared to him and ordained him to accomplish the divine work of restoring the true church by preaching the true gospel which, allegedly, had been lost from the earth.
Un quote :
It is considered that John the Baptist was the one who for told the coming of Christ in the biblical account he was the one crying in the wilderness and Preaching repentance , he was to come in the Spirit of Elias the prophet.
As the Bible states this was done.
In Hebrews it states that Christ was a high priest in the order of Melchizedek.
Joseph Smith claims both of these events with a twist , Did Smith consider himself to be Christ returning to earth?

I'm sorry, but if you want to start a new topic, you'll have to start a new thread.

I advise asking 1 single question, the most important one you have. That way conversation can focus on the most important thing. This is much more productive than asking a million unimportant questions.

Also, respect goes a long way.

What validates the Mormon religon more so than Islam?
Mormons have a major prophet Joseph Smith, and Islam had Mohammed
They both use the Hebrew text and their own text as well, how are we to discern this?
Both prophets had as many as 25 wives.
Could there be another revelation before Josph Smith and after Christ?

Low battery thank you for everything good night
Ok, get a good night sleep :). We can talk tomorrow.

If you have 1 most important question, I can address that. Alternatively, I can just start talking about the most important LDS beliefs.

Good reply
Since MoronI was a Native American as I have Native American blood ,do you suppose I may be the one who finds more revelation?

I'm just trying to stay on topic here which is what brought about the first God, how does our beginning of creation work.

I think new scriture will come out of Russia, China and Europe maybe even Africa. The Bible says Israel was spread to the four corners of the earth.

Moses prophesied
Deut
27 And the Lord shall scatter you among the nations, and ye shall be left few in number among the heathen, whither the Lord shall lead you.
28 And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men’s hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.
29 But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
30 When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the Lord thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice;

So the Lord led groups of Israelites out of Israel as many of them were being taken captive. They were taught to worship false gods, that didn't take much because they were already doing that.

However the promise was that if any of them truly desired to seek the Lord their God they would find him. So we feel there were groups like in the Book of Mormon who had prophets which taught them the gospel but over the years they fell into apostasy and by the time Christian missionaries arrived they were pagan. We feel there is buried somewhere the writings of these prophets which will also testify of Christ.

Is that a direct quote, if so they sure got that wrong.

Me starting off with the most important thing:

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are followers of Jesus Christ. He is our Lord and Savior, without whose atoning sacrifice none come to the Father. We follow Him: heeding His words, trying to be like Him, and praying to the Father in His name.
