I have had discussions on this forum concerning the Biblical evidence that Jesus is also Michael the Arch Angel. Some have contended with me on this stating that Jesus is not a created "angel". I would wholeheartedly agree but they seem to miss the verses in the Bible that clearly do show that Jesus is referred to as an angel (messenger) in the Bible.... lets look at some.

The word aggelos (G32)is used in the NT to refer to messengers from God... consider the following.

Act 7:30
And when forty years were expired, there appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sina an angel G32 of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush.

Was it not Christ in that burning bush? If it had been just a created angel then the place where Moses was standing would not have been Holy ground.

Act 7:38
This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel G32 which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:

Again we see that Jesus was referred to as an angel that appeared to Moses on Sinai.

Rev 8:3-4
And another angel G32 came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.
And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's G32 hand.

We know that Jesus is our High Priest that is ministering before the throne of God in our behalf and not the work of a created being.

Rev 10:1
And I saw another mighty angel G32 come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:

The attributes here described are only possessed by Christ... it was Jesus that was leading the church in the wilderness by a pillar of cloud by day and pillars of fire by night. The rainbow is only connected with the throne of God and not any created being. And it is only Jesus that is described in scripture as having the face as it were the sun. Matthew 17:2

Lets now look at the OT for evidence...

The Hebrew word for angel is mal'ak (H4397) and we will now see that God/Jesus was also referred to by this name.

Gen 16:10
And the angel of the LORD said unto her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.

We know it is only God who could give this promise of multiplying Hagars seed.

Gen 22:11,15,16
And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
And the angel of the Lord called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,
And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:

Here we see that the angel of the Lord is also referred to as "the Lord".

Exo 3:2
And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.

As we saw in the NT, the Lord appeared to Moses in the burning bush, aka, the angel of the Lord.

Jdg 13:17-21
And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, What is thy name, that when thy sayings come to pass we may do thee honour?
And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Why askest thou thus after my name, seeing it is secret?
So Manoah took a kid with a meat offering, and offered it upon a rock unto the LORD: and the angel did wondrously; and Manoah and his wife looked on.
For it came to pass, when the flame went up toward heaven from off the altar, that the angel of the LORD ascended in the flame of the altar. And Manoah and his wife looked on it, and fell on their faces to the ground.
But the angel of the LORD did no more appear to Manoah and to his wife. Then Manoah knew that he was an angel of the LORD.

We know that created angels rebuke anyone that tries to honour them or falls on their face in worship before them.... this is a manifestation of Jesus to Manoah and his wife.

There are some places in Scripture where the Jews refer to an angel sent by the Lord as the Lord. This is also true of humans in Scripture being seeing as equal to their master. The Jews respected the fact that a good servant was authorized by their master to speak for him. They didn't have cell phones (or telegrams).

an angel is a messenger, a ministering spirit.
they or it is NOT God.

Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs. For to which of the angels did God ever say, "You are my Son, today I have begotten you"? Or again, "I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son"? And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says, "Let all God's angels worship him." Of the angels he says, "He makes his angels winds, and his ministers a flame of fire." But of the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions." And, "You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands; they will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment, like a robe you will roll them up, like a garment they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will have no end." Hebrews 1:1-12

- only the Son of God is exactly like God and command/upholds the universe by the power of his Word.
- angels don't worship angel.
- angel is not a creator.
- God don't call angel God

Actually Jesus is the first Creation of GOD Father.

1John 5.1

1.Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is BORN of GOD, and whoever loves the Father, loves the child born of Him.

To Colossians 1. 15

15.And He is the image of the invisible GOD (Father), the first-born of all creation.

Hebrews 1.3-4.6

3.And He (Jesus Christ) is the radiance of His (Father's) Glory and the exact representation of His (Father's) nature, and upholds all things by the Word of His (Father's) power. When He had made purification of sins He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty (Father) on high,

4.having become as much better than the angels, as He has inherited a more excellent name than they.

6.And when He (GOD Father) again brings the First-Born (Jesus Christ) into the world, he (David) says, "And let all the angels of GOD worship Him." (Psalm 97.7)

Revelation 3.14

14.And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: The Amen, the Faithful, and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of GOD says this:

Revelation 22.13

13.I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

“The First and the Last, Beginning and the End,” all of these mean a certain start and a certain end.

But if we compare this to GOD Father, He has no beginning and no end Psalm 90.2, He has no start of His existence, because He is the Eternity, and Eternity has no beginning and no end.

Therefore, this points only to one conclusion that comparing to GOD Father, Jesus Christ has His start and end, means His is the beginning and on Him everything ends.

Jesus as the Angel of GOD.

Genesis 22.11-12

11.But the Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, "Abraham, Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."

12.And he said, "Do not stretch out you hand against the lad, and do nothing to him, now I know that you fear GOD, since you have not withheld your son, your only son from Me."

Genesis 31.11-13

11.Then the Angel of GOD said to me in the dream, 'Jacob', and I said, 'Here I am.'

12.And he said, 'Lift up now your eyes and see that all the male goats which are mating are striped, speckled, and mottled. I have seen all that Laban has been doing to you.

13.I am the GOD of Bethel where you anointed a pillar, where you made a vow to Me, now arise, leave this land and return to the land of your birth." (Genesis 28.13.15, 31.3.13, 32.9)

Exodus 23.20-23

20.Behold, I am going to send an Angel before you to guard you along the way, and to bring you into the place which I have prepared.

21.Be on your guard before Him and obey His voice, do not be rebellious toward Him, He will not pardon your transgressions, since My name is in Him.

22.But if you will truly obey His voice and do all that I say, then I will be an enemy to your enemies, and an adversary to your adversaries.

23.My Angel will go before you and bring you in to the land of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzitess, the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, and I will completely destroy them.

1Corinthians 10.1-4

1.I do not want you to be unaware brethren, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea,

2.and all were baptized into Moses, in the cloud, and in the sea,

3.and all ate the same spiritual food,

4.and all drank the same spiritual drink, they were drinking from a spiritual Rock which followed them, and the Rock was Christ.

Acts 27.23-24

23.Last night there stood by me an Angel of the GOD to Whom I belong and Whom I (Paul) worship,

24.and He said, "Do not be afraid Paul, you must stand before the emperor, and indeed GOD has granted safety to all those who are sailing with you."

Archangel Michael definitely is not Jesus, because Jesus never had been called by such name, but the Michael, just like Jesus, was assigned to protect people of GOD, Israelites, to assure their survival.

Daniel 12.1

Words of the angel of GOD to Daniel.

1."At that time, Michael the great prince, the protector of your people shall arise. There shall be a time of anguish such as has never occurred (Matthew 24.15-21-22) (Mark 13.14-19-20) (Daniel 12.1) since nations first came into existence. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone who is found written in the Book.

Revelation 12.7-9

7.And war broke out in Heaven, Michael and his angels fought against the dragon. The dragon and his angels fought back,

8.but they were defeated and there was no longer any place for them in Heaven.

9.The great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent who is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world, he was thrown to the Earth and his angels were thrown down with him.

Here is short reference of Jesus’ names, but I did not find a place in the Bible where He called as Michael.

Actually there is only one Archangel in the Bible, Michael.

In Christ
Daniel

There are archetypes all through scripture.
I sometimes wonder if all of scripture is
the revealing of archetypes.

When Jesus comes He will come with the shout of the Archangel... He will, as the Commander of the angelic hosts, call them forth with Him to the great and terrible day of the Lord.

1 Thessalonians 4:16
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Also, in Daniel 12, we see that Michael stands up and ends His Priestly work in the Most Holy just before the time of trouble, the last plagues, are to be poured out. This will be the time of Jacobs trouble when, although God's people will be sealed with the Fathers name on their foreheads, they will have no intercessor and will have to stand in that time pleading with God as Jacob did. They must be found with no deception in their mouths and no stain of sin upon them in order to avoid the plagues reserved for the wicked at that time.

As I can see and understand it, the Lord Jesus Christ will descend from Heaven, with the shout and with the voice of the Archangel, which means at the shout and at the voice of the Archangel.

As I already presented and explain above, Jesus never been called as Michael anywhere in the Bible.

Above all, nobody actually knows the real name of Jesus, I mean His Heavenly name, but it will be revealed only in the last days.

Revelation of John 19.11-13.16

11.Then I saw Heaven opened and there was a white horse! Its rider is called Faithful and True’ and in righteousness He judges and makes war.

12.His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems, and He has a name inscribed that no one knows but Himself.

13.He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called ‘The Word of GOD.’

16.On His robe and on His thigh He has a name inscribed, ‘King of kings and Lord of lords.’

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his ONLY BEGOTTEN SON that whosoever believeth in him should not PERISH, but have everlasting life.
So God's Son can't be the leader or General of the angelic host? The Archangel is the chief or head Creator/Messenger... just like He is head Creator/Messenger of His Church on earth. Not a terribly difficult concept to grasp when viewed from a non tradition point of view.

In Dan. 10,..that which is noted in the scripture of truth:and there is NONE that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your Prince. Dan. 12 says Michael "stands up, the great Prince". That probably means he was seated. Aren't too many seated in heaven. Then in Jude, he directly contends with satan. Rev. he fights satan. Also in Rev. an angel lays hold on satan, a pretty tall order! Is it plausible? At the very least. There are important truths staring folks in the face we miss or discard that others see plainly, so I wouldn't rule it out, nor would I jump up and down in argument that he is, causing dissention among breather. IMO.It is something to ponder. I don't gamble, but I'd throw a couple bucks in knowing it'll be judgement day before anyone can collect. Peace

Assumptions based on a few out-of-context proof texts are not "important truths."

There are three mentioned in Daniel: Michael, Gabriel and "the man in linen"

"The man in linen" is neither Michael or Gabriel

"The man in linen" has authority over Gabriel and directs Gabriel to give Daniel the meaning of the vision

"The man in linen" is detained "21 days" and no one helps Him but Michael, the prince of Daniel's people

"The man in linen" is described and is noted/described extensively than Gabriel or Michael
