  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I went on a pilgrimage to Lourdes in May and whilst I was there I bought this lovely rosary at one of the gift shops. I decided on this one as I really like how the beads are in the shape of a rose.

What type of rosary do you guys and gals have?

Also what would you say is the best time to say the rosary? What's the best way to remember to do the rosary? I would like to do it more often and have some sort of routine.

i have a rosary made of small squares of Connemara green marble stone set with a Celtic cross made in Ireland.
it also has 3 medals attached. My daughter got it for me as a present when i told her i was signed up for RCIA.
i also have a red plastic one given to me by my church on completion of RCIA, that i keep with my books from RCIA,
and a third white plastic 'traveling' rosary that i keep handy in my car for on-the-road emergencies.

I have several.
The one I tend to pray with is a so called "St Benedict's" rosary.

I love that particular rosary for some reason I cannot explain.

I have a really expensive rosary which I bought in Rome with amulets of Pope JPII, but it's to no measure against my Benedict rosary...

I've several :) but they are rarely used - I do prefer my Eastern Chotki or my 'mini' Lestovka.

One of my rosaries is very very special - it was individually blessed for my by St JPII on his visit to Canada ;) A friend had an audience with him and took 3 Rosaries with him to be blessed - mine is one of them. I also have an unusual one - a Brigittine one :)

This is my favorite because it's less than a foot and i can hang it from my review mirror. A quick grab when i stop off for Eucharistic adoration on the way home from work.

I use two rope ones to pray with my daughter. For me I use one my wife made for our wedding. Snowflake obsidian with a holy family center and our wedding date engraved on the back of the cross. Sometimes I use a rosary ring that has been blessed by the last few Popes.

I have tons! Mostly old or antique. I took pictures of a few in another thread. I got tired of doing it because I had to drag a bunch of stuff out. I'll see if I can find the link.

I have so many since I was a child. My favorite one is made of rosewood. I also have one of the shorter decade ones that I received from Italy. My grandma has given me so many. Every time I'd visit her she'd have another pair waiting for me. :)

I have a gray cord knotted rosary, I know this is a trendy term that is wayyyyy over used but knotted cord rosaries feel more "organic" to me

@Davidnic I love that snowflake obsidian rosary :)

Yeah I like natural materials myself. My first one was plastic but it's great to have a back up when needed. My primary one is wood threaded with thin cord. It was very stiff at first but the more I use it the more it loosens up.

Oh my! I saw your rosary and read 'Lourdes' and thought you had a rosary turn to gold!

Now I'm wondering how I ever made it out of Lourdes without buying a rosary. I left with as many of those 1oz water bottles with the gold crowns for lids as I could carry. I was fascinated with those things. I couldn't bring home that many since my luggage was stolen.

My favorite rosary is an antique black and silver Italian job.
