If that's the case, then why doesn't God just destroy all of us?

I will admit that this passage is problematic because we don't know the age of Dathan/Abiram's children, but I think since it says "little ones" that we can safely assume that they could not have been in conscious rebellion against God.

What standard would you hold to God?

I know God is God...but that's still messed up..i mean were all sinful
..why were we spared...because of what? Just so god can show mercy? If that's the case it fully explains why my life is the way it is now.

Why do you refer to God as 'god?'

I'm not sure. I believe that all of God's acts are righteous; that's why I'm asking the question posed in this thread. I think it's interesting that God could have so easily spared them and yet did not.

You remember God knew Easau in his mother's womb? He knew John the Baptist, one of the Prophets, Jer. I think. He knows all babies in the womb. (IMO) So all these "little ones" He also knew before they were born. Knew what kind of life they would live, just like He knew what kind of life Easau would live, and how his life would turn out.
Some things are a mystery, and will always be a mystery. IDK, GKs

Not really. God was patient and longsuffering in the OT.
Not really...if they slipped up on accident god was still easily frustrated and angry.. He's much more merciful in the NT. and I said god BC I was rushing.. Don't get your undies in a bunch

My thing is..if he knew them and the life they'd have...why would he create them just to die.

I wonder why he didn't either

Well, maybe they didn't die at all. That's my point. As far as why create them; if they go to be with God for eternity then I'd say it's much better for them to be created than not.

I think you misunderstand. I'm saying that it's entirely possible that physical death is actually not how God defines death.
Four places in the Revelation mentions the second death... the permanent one. That is reserved for the unrighteous at the end of the 100 years along with Satan and his angels.

Also why the first death is constantly referred to in the Bible as "sleep"... as you stated, God doesn't view our bodily death as "death".

Aren't all of you glad that you are saved by God's Amazing Grace through Faith, not based upon OT imperatives that held folks directly responsible?
You're in for a sad awakening if you think we have no responsibility. Obedience requires a choice and a determination...

My prayer is that the Body of Christ point out the errors of 7th Day Adventism. It confuses the lost, hammers the saved.

I could be that dathan and abiram died of natural causes, and the OT writer attributed the cause to God. Some of the OT writers thought God was directly responsible for every little thing that happen to them.
Why would the Bible record it as one event (getting swallowed up by the earth) if they maybe died of "natural causes"? Where is your faith in what the Bible states?

Making false statements appear as truth does not make them so.

If Adventism confuses the lost, then why is it the fastest growing denomination worldwide with 400% growth since the 80's. On the contrary my friend, people are embracing the Adventist message because it is direct, simple and Biblically based.

As far as hammering the lost, if you believe your are saved in your sins, then you might need a tap or two on your head from God's Holy hammer, His Spirit.

It confuses those who can't sort out all these denominations, and it hammers away at God's Amazing Grace. There are lots of scriptures; Romans 10:8-13 is central. There are no loopholes, days, becoming lost again after being found. Pretty straight-forward. Why jumble it up?
