• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Roy Moore suspended... again.

Your lack of faith is irrelevant to reality and God's creation of your body, soul and spirit.
The reality is that gays are legally allowed to marry in America.

The fact that you can't or won't understand how the Supreme Court works doesn't change that. Saying they can't over and over doesn't change that. They can. As a point of fact THEY CAN.

The US judicial system stepped far beyond its role and took on the role of spiritual arbiter.
The fact that our society has a broken moral compass is obvious.

Correct. The States and Federal government should have no say in marriage and there should be no tax codes based upon marriage.

I'll grant you that the SCOTUS could have logically taken that position, but that was not the case the attorney's arguing against same-sex marriage made. So I take then you believe the Defense of Marriage Act was wrong?

Yes. The government had stepped over the line between church and state.

So, when you say "the state," that includes the states of Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee, correct? If those states try to legislate moral or religious issues, such as, for example, allowing same-sex marriage, well, they've overstepped their bounds, haven't they?

So who is the spiritual arbiter?

Nope. That's just a union of the same gender. It's not marriage.

Should we regulate what people call it? Punish people who call a same sex union "marriage"?

Doesn't change the fact that gays can still marry.

Gays would still be able to marry even if both the federal and state government got out of the marriage business as Mennosota suggests. Each religion and church would decide for itself whether to marry gays, and there is no lack of churches willing to do this.
