all beef hotdog, grilled

either with a little stadium brown mustard

or Sabrett "onion in sauce" (sometimes called "pushcart onions") thin sliced white onions cooked in tomato paste, vinegar, and paprika till it is a very nice relish of sorts
you can buy it premade, or at the beginning of summer I will make a big batch of it and keep it in the fridge, it keeps well and you can tweak the recipe to your own liking, for example I use a little extra Hungarian Hot Paprika and less vinegar in mine

I relish a topic with a little bite to it. I hope I can ketchup to the rest of you and mustard up some ideas, and express my onions.

I like all the usual stuff, but relish and onion is preferred, no matter what else is included. The best dogs are the long butcher shop variety in the skins, with the smoky flavor. Carcinogens galore, but they are a great treat once in a while.

I was at a minor league baseball game recently where the dogs were 2 for a dollar! Not the best quality but for a buck, who cares. Some guys bought six at a time.

Now I'm hungry!

From regular hot dog places chili-cheese dog with diced onion and MANY napkins (mustache issues). Another good option from some places.. a dirty water dog with hot salsa & raw onion

But... If I REALLY want to make a hot dog pilgrimage, I'll schlep the 20-30 minutes to go to Rutt's Hut & get Rippers (deep fried until the skin splits) with their special relish... Along with some of the worlds best beer batter onion rings!!
