  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What is the greatest evidence against the theory of evolution...?

Ah, so I am ignorant, is that it? I am a product of ignorance because I don't believe in gods, yes?

That doesn't really follow, does it? If I am a product of "breeding", surely that would mean that my ancestors carried the 'ignorance' trait? And how would you know what their beliefs were?
A person who exists without God exists in a state of ignorance, for all true intelligence comes from Him and no other. You believe life arose without intelligence, so why should you be any different?

Did I use those as examples of logic, or did I ask if they were logical?

I don't know. I'm rapidly forming the opinion that it is extremely difficult to know what you are trying to say.

You can reread my post if you don't know the answer.

Do you know the answer? Is it "logical" to compare the origins of man with computers in a junk yard?

I myself never proposed that man could arise from soup;

And neither has anyone else that I know of. Nice to see we are all on the same page.

I believe that God created us perfectly human, as is evidenced by our incredible design.

Good for you. You are free to believe anything you can imagine.

Those who hold that soup is our ancestor believe so,

I thought we just agreed that none of us believe that.

and that would include you and all who hold to evolution as an explanation for life and all of its complexity.

Ah, huge error I'm afraid. The theory of evolution says none of that. You've been listening to dishonest creationists, haven't you?

Do you not believe that we evolved from primordial soup?

No, we evolved from the first life forms.

No, that is not what you said. You said that one who does not believe in gods was a product of ignorance. Now you say something different.

Be careful you don't fall into the stream while you're switching those horses!

for all true intelligence comes from Him and no other. You believe life arose without intelligence, so why should you be any different?

Unsupported claim. I think I'll just dismiss it.

You really don't get it? It's an analogy.

A person without eyes cannot give an eyewitness account, because they have no eyes; in the same manner, a person cannot be intelligent if they believe they are the product of ignorance, because ignorance breeds ignorance--not intelligence. A product of ignorance is anyone who believes that there is no God.
That is not correct. Many people believe there is no God and definably can present a rationale why. A lot of this has to do with their experience of the intolerance and contradiction of the Christian religion. They are not stupid or ignorant. If you wish to challenge them, OK, then you need to get busy and see if you can come up with overpowering counterarguments. . That's the way it works in the world of serious theological discussion. However, it seems you are so hostile and angry with them that you cannot help but attack their character, calling them names, stupid, ignorant. That is a no-no in serious theological discussions. Please, leave that for when you re hobnobbing with your Bible Belt buddies.

Where did they come from? Not from God according to you, because you are an atheist. Did they bang into existence as most say the universe did?

Watch carefully.....you're about to receive an answer that you'll never hear from those lying creationists:

We don't know where and how life first arose.

But we are working on it...........

Your post here is precisely what I am talking about. You depict me in as negative light as you can, as some sort of con artist trying to pass himself off as an expert. I find that highly inappropriate and insulting. As I told you before, I have a doctorate in theology.
This is the internet. I can call myself the Sultan of Brunei if I so choose. You can only decide whether I am or not by what I post. You aren't the first "Biblical scholar" I've debated here. One thing you all have in common is that none of you can post Scriptures to support your position. Interesting, no? I state that evolution is contra-indicated via the Scriptures and You attack ME calling me ignorant and uneducated; yet you can't present ANYTHING in the Scriptures to support your understanding. Earth to Hoghead. If you present yourself as an authority on theology you'd better be able to demonstrate an understanding of theology. Otherwise you're only the latest in a series of "biblical scholars" who could never support their position. You are the one who is, in a Christian forum, attacking what the Bible clearly teaches. You've call the Bible an error-filled work of man. That is not the position of a theologian, that's the position of a poser. I've said all along that if you want credentials as a learned theologian demonstrate it. You can't, or haven't.
Also, I never posted any verses about the sea bringing forth life. Where did you get that idea?
Okay, that may have been a different "expert." I was giving you credit for making an attempt at posting Scripture. My bad. As for your character, I can only go by what you post. What I see is yet another screen name coming in to these forums, calling himself and authority on the Scriptures or claiming to have a doctorate in theology, posting "from authority" that the Bible is false; that man clearly evolved. It's the same posts, right down to the indignance at being called out for false teaching. It's absolutely no different than the half dozen or so other "authorities" I have on ignore. I wonder if you're all the same person, or if this is a suggestion on some atheist website of how to use influence to wean those pesky Christians away from believing their Bibles. To a person, not one of you has demonstrated enough knowledge of Scriptures to even try a half-hearted defense of evolution. As far as that goes, read what the Scriptures actually say about false teachers. You might learn why people here have a low regard for the continuing flow of internet experts who laugh at out foolish misunderstanding of the Bible because we believe it to be the word of God.

We've heard this song more than "Stairway to Heaven." No offense to Led Zeppelin fans, sooner or later even great songs get overplayed.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I am a product of my parents, both of whom were exceedingly well educated and intelligent. Due to the time in which they lived, there would have been many things of which they were ignorant, but we can say the same for any generation.

And your parents are a product of their parents and so on and so for. You believe life arose without intelligence, and so you, being alive, are ULTIMATELY the product of ignorance. Maybe not immediately, but ultimately. How intelligence somehow came to be is what you are still trying to figure out. Why not believe in God?

The point is that I never attacked anyone; I'd like a quote of me attacking someone if that's really the case.

You have quite the faith. I'm sure they will come up with something; in fact, many believe they already have. Remember that soup I was talking about?

For example, did you notice how 2 Sam. 21:19 says that Elhanan killed Goliath of Gath?
Thank you for proving that you do not have a theology degree.
David was a young man when he killed Goliath. Samuel 21 comes much later, while he is king. Here is what is ACTUALLY HAPPENING in Samuel 21.

18 In the course of time, there was another battle with the Philistines, at Gob. At that time Sibbekai the Hushathite killed Saph, one of the descendants of Rapha.
19 In another battle with the Philistines at Gob, Elhanan son of Jair the Bethlehemite killed the brother of Goliath the Gittite, who had a spear with a shaft like a weaver’s rod.
20 In still another battle, which took place at Gath, there was a huge man with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot—twenty-four in all. He also was descended from Rapha. 21 When he taunted Israel, Jonathan son of Shimeah, David’s brother, killed him.
22 These four were descendants of Rapha in Gath, and they fell at the hands of David and his men.

Thanks for playing, but you lose.

Again, your post suggest that you are so full of hostility and anger that you are driven to hurling personal insults. I'm no surprised. Any time a scholar dares disagree with the fundamentalist version of the Bible, he is immediately written off as ignorant, evil, you name it. That is all you are doing here. No problem. Occupational hazard for those of us Christian thinkers outside the Bible Belt camp. They did it to Schweitzer and other leading intellects, so why not me?

You don't have any understanding of the Scriptures. Sorry, but the fraud is over. You've been outed.
