I think that's called fenotypical variation, not genotypical.
Although genes can be switched on and off also.
You expect data corruption to cause purposeful adaptations within a few generations.

It is the same interactions that cause proteins to fold into their tertiary structures which they need in order to have function. No DNA helix, no functional proteins.
