Well as long as both genders feel comfortable expressing their ideals. I have actually read sites that make an arguement that while we should practice body acceptence it should still be ok to make height an issue for men. To me that is one sided and unfair. As far as ideals go, there should be checks and balances.
I don't have any problem with men having weight criteria for dates. No one is entitled to date anyone. But body acceptance usually refers more to general respect. If a guy doesn't want to date an overweight woman, that's fine, but he shouldn't call her a fat harlot.

Most of the body positive women I meet actually want men to embrace heavier women while staying totally silent about shorter men. That kind of double standard deserves anger.

I just want equality. So if women require tall guys on dating sites, men should be allowed to demand thin women openly on dating sites too. As far as name calling goes, sometimes its the only way to get women to shut up about mocking shorter men. The bottom line is, suffering should be equal to whatever shorter men receive.

In the real world equality is rare.

I am only 5 foot 7 inches but I have had many women throw themselves at me since I was 13. The last women to throw herself at me was a woman about 10 years younger than me and she was at least 6 foot 2 inches.

How tall somebody is has no meaning for me but I look at body tone. A woman must be pleasing to look at in order for her to be attracted to me.

Now a lot of women like tall guys because they have more man in them and it is a free country for them to chose that away but I also know that when women pick their men for man stuff that their relationships only last until the fun is done and there is nothing else.

A big man matters to some but a smart one picks a big man with a good job and is smart. Just marrying big is not enough.

I read an article a few years ago that stated that most beautiful women usually date big guys but marry smaller guys who are secure.

I can't say I've come across this, but yes, I'm sure there are hypocrites out there.

Staying totally silent, though? How do you know how they feel about the treatment of short men, then?

I know the feel enough not to say anything about us. And whenever I see them asked about shorter men they just dance around the question.

For all the women who voted in this poll, you're fine with me making a poll about the ideal women's weight for a man right? I'd like to know how seriously you take equality.

Guh you singles sure make a lot of threads about how picky you are, it's a wonder if any of you will find anyone.
It's a wonder that anyone in the Married board is still married, going by those threads.

I'm 6 foot and women don't throw themselves at me. I don't think it's one quality or another. I'd rather someone get to know me and fall in love with my heart instead of the fact that I'm tall.

Seriously, holy crap some of that stuff is so depressing. I can't even imagine God wants them to live in THAT kind of misery.

I don't really think height is the most important thing in someone. Their character is far more important.
Height and weight, and any other physical feature can definitely play a part in attractiveness to someone else. But if appearance is all that is looked at that is pretty shallow, regardless if it is in a positive or a negative light.

Shhh, you can't tell them that. CF Singles is like a big story book and this is a realisation each must come to somewhere in the story. This revelation you have spilt could cause massive psychological damage. You can't expect the farm boy to put on the heroes Armour and fight the army of darkness at the beginning.

I'm not picky. I fall into the "socially inept and can't meet anybody" category. ;)

Die Mehguy! I am just teasing:) I totally agree with you that we can't have a double standard. Your thread would sure start some fires in Singles, lol I agree with all the points you have expressed in this thread. If I logged into this forum and saw threads about weight etc. I would feel blah.
The reality is that everyone has ideals or a concept of beauty but people are not as picky as this subforum would seem to imply. ĺ wouldn't let this thread get to you. I know I was one of the ones to vote 6"1' as the ideal but I was answering from a purely objective point of view. I think guys that are shorter are very attractive too. Plus, 5'7" is not really short. I would consider that average height
Keep in mind that everyone is far from perfect physically (especially the pesky voters who listed 6'1")and very few of us are 10's. Insecurities just get heightened when we have to log in and read lists of preferences. I bet in your offline life lots of girls find you attractive. Most people don't meet a person and try to start calculating their height in inches or weight :)

That's because most people in the world live in a country where they use the metric system. :tonguewink:

You'd be surprised. I've encountered plenty of women who rule out guys under a certain height. I'm 5'11, and sometimes even that is too short for them.

This British site suggests that men aren't interested in women over 6' and women aren't interested in men under 5'4. In my experience the women I've encountered won't even go that low. But this is all to point out that many women do have some concept of an ideal, even if societal pressure forces them to deny it and claim they "don't care".

I believe that height is a huge factor in high school and even university dating. But as people get older this factor values less and less, slowly decrease at first and then speed up after 30 years old. Same goes for any other kinds of superficial factors.

P.S. Shorter guys tend to live longer on average. Their heart doesn't have to work as hard to pump the blood around.

However it is universal truth that most woman prefer taller guys than short ones. They want to "feel" protected by a bigger man.
