If the man is found guilty, no one will be surprised. Even I have already stated quite a while back it was likely a bomb and he likely placed it there BUT could we please not jump to conclusions. Yup, no one will be surprised if he is guilty.
However, every single one of you will be surprised, shocked and appalled when the rights you so freely gave away affect you in a personal way. You will be bemoaning, why am I/they not presumed innocent until proven guilty? Who took that right from me. You will not look back at this conversation and think, wow this is what she was talking about. You will be too busy complaining and scrambling to try to save yourself or your loved one.
So many of our rights have already been taken, given away, or are currently under fire. Now, people are eager to give away our right of innocence before proven guilty.
I can only list a few rights we have lost/given away in the last few decades. My hubby can list many more, but he is not here.
First amendment:
Some of our right to free speech has been challenged or revoked.
Second amendment:
Our right to bare arms is under constant review, but of this has been the case for quite some time on one level or anther.
Fourth amendment:
We can now be searched and some items may be seized without due cause or warrants.
Fifth amendment:
Someone presumed to be involved in terrorist activity, no matter how vague, may be arrested and detained without any trial for as long as it deemed necessary including indefinitely.
14th amendment:
People can be held indefinitely in jail without any trial if they are only assumed to be a terrorist or involved in some vague way in terrorist activity.
If you are assumed to be involved in any kind terrorist activity, you are already guilty and jailed until YOU can prove you are innocent.
At least now I will not be as shocked when I see in my lifetime our right to innocence before proven guilty completely revoked for not just a few, but for the masses. I was shocked to see it here in such force and with such vitriol. It appears the masses no longer want to offer the right of innocent until proven guilty to anyone other than themselves or their loved ones of course. Sadly, the wishes of the masses often become laws. I stood up here for the 14th amendment, and I am told I am anywhere from just plain wrong for doing so to being decried a terrorist sympathizer. Not only are assumed terrorist scorned, those who stand up for the constitution of the US are scorned as well.
I will continue to enjoy and fight for America and the freedoms we have now for as long as they last. I will continue to stand up for the constitution and our rights even while I am saddened by watching others throw our rights away as fast as they possibly can.
