There is very definite reason why evolution is a central concept in mainstream science. It's the theory that best fits the data. Hence, one should be respectful of mainstream science. Problem is, all I hear are very loud self-appointed experts here who believe themselves to know more than mainstream science and therefore see fit to sit in judgment and pronounce it wrong, since it does not agree with their own pet theories about God, the Bible, and how science ought to operate, all of which are homegrown, without one drop of education in these fields. Most of you here would benefit from taking philosophy of science 101 so that you had some real idea what you are talking about. The other issue is that everyone seems to conveniently forget that God is not a scientific question. Once God comes into the equation, you have stepped way outside science. That doesn't mean we don't talk about God and science, just that we need to realize we are interacting two different levels of inquiry. In systematic theology, the goal is to interact science and theology is a constructive way, and not pit science against religion, which is continually happening here with individuals who claim to be creationists. All that does is further cement in the notion that religion is subversive to any real scientific inquiry and therefore seeks to set us back into the Dark Ages of superstition. The real question is this: Given that there is an evolutionarily process, what does this tell us about how God and creation interact? Problem is, few want to do that here. most find it satisfying to assume either you believe in god or you believe in evolution and never the twain shall meet. So I say shame on all of you.
