• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I said Atmosphere of this Earth not the Moon. No this is not Poe's law.

Do you see the swirly white bits?

They're clouds!

Where do clouds live?

That's right: the sky!

What else is in the sky?

That's right: air!

What's another word for air?

That's right: the atmosphere!

Well, it was a long slog but we got there, slugga; we got there.

All you can resort to is illogical jokes because you know you're wrong.
No. People joke about this because they consider your beliefs absurd and have never even considered the notion that the earth is flat. I think that all your threads about the earth being flat need to get moved to the "conspiracy theory" subforum, this is getting ridiculous and is presenting Christianity as something of a joke. This is the reason why atheists mock Christians, it's because of the nonsense that people like you say.

1. No Stars
2. Why is most of the lit part of the Earth facing the moon....
3. Too small to see any details about the Earth

Well, you've had it explained once so why actually read what the good people (both Christian and non) on this thread have been saying.

I don't want to sound patronising but at 19 years old one's brain has not yet fully myelinated and one is prone to impulsive emotional reasoning that is often rigid in nature. I'm not saying that this is definitely happening here but does it give you any pause for thought?

All the best

Find a Photo of the Earth and post the link.

You can't.

Because there are no photos of something that doesn't exist.

We are living inside a firmament/dome, and the earth is flat and stationary exactly as the bible describes.
Post a picture of a Poe. You can't, they don't exist.

;)

Are you embarrassed over the Word of God?

God tells us we are living inside a firmament, and that the Sun and Moon are INSIDE the Firmament. Genesis 1:14-15

So believing the Bible is a conspiracy theory?

Do you even believe the Bible.....You're Christian right?

I already know that you beleive in God: that does not move things forwards.

If you are not going to budge I imagine there is nothing anybody here can do for you, but the great thing about the Inter Nets is that in about ten years you may read this thread back to yourself.

The first time I came across a geocentrist I was quite sure he was a poe, but he wasn't. Now they have gone one better with a flat Earth. It has got to the point where I will believe anything of American fundamentalists.

That verse was directed at you, not me.

You're condemned already for not believing in Jesus.

You can find my argument in these past 7 pages of this thread.

On a globe it needs to have some amount of curvature, which it has none.

Best proof is The Word of God.

The age of instant communication is great. Why? Because it allows those of us with intelligence to prove people like yourself wrong.

I had an acquaintance who, like yourself, actually believed that the earth was flat. (I know, how could a sane person believe this?) He would argue for hours about it. He told me that I had to prove to him that the earth was round. So, I arranged for him to video chat with several of my friends, who, like myself, are amateur radio operators. They are located across the US.

What we did was this. While on video chat, we simultaneously bounced a signal off the moon. Yes, in case you didn't know, that is possible. We then allowed him to calculate the distance between the earth and moon based on the elapsed time between transmission and reception of the return signal. We proved to him that the US is "curved". By then calculating that curvature, adjusting for slight differences in latitude, we proved to him the circumference of the earth based upon our relative latitude.

I also showed him that the "firmament" spoken of in the Bible isn't that firm. Even before the time of Christ, the ancients knew that the positions of the sun and moon as they rose and set, relative to the horizon, varied during the year. And that variance was caused by the earth "wobbling" around the sun.

It was sad that it took so much to convince my acquaintance of the truth. I would suggest that we ignore MaxR1996.

Sir you call yourself Christian right?

I assume you believe the Bible

"And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years. And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so." - Genesis 1:14-15

IN the firmament.

It says specifically that the Greater light ( sun ), and Lesser light ( moon ), are INSIDE the firmament ( dome )

Also: Psalms 104:5
Ok, you've convinced me.
The Bible is a Lie. time to Reject it, given that either reality is true or you're only accurate interpretation of the Bible.

You mean you actually succeeded, and he hadn't got some ad hoc hypotheses ready to hand?

The earth is not flat. If you can't take some parts of the bible metaphorically then you really are beyond help. You're a teenager, you need to keep studying. You can't shut down to modern science and crawl into a conspiracy web, it'll destroy your future.

Yes. He couldn't deny the evidence right in front of him. I let him do the calculations and used a white board to give him a "visual" display. He just couldn't deny it anymore.

I assume you've had time to try and find a photo of new York in which stars are visible. When you understand why they are not visible in those pictures of new York at night, you will understand why they are not visible in the photos of earth we have posted.

Here's something else. The attached photo is the view out my window right now. Why is it dark here and not dark in the US?

Its curved because the map is curved, everything is more curved than it appears, on a flat earth disc map.

The earth is flat and stationary. I swear on Jesus name.

If that's all it takes for you to reject the Bible....

It says the lights are INSIDE the firmament, very straight forward...
