  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What is the most effective way to protect us from ISIS?

Okay, maybe I failed to understand WHAT you were getting-at
when you looked to protect yourself from Daesh _ by some means

It did not look (to me) like you were quoting someone else's post
Yes, I would be happy to be able to conclude 'that' was your intention

Well they have this prophecy about fighting us in dabiq. Their Armageddon battle. Perhaps meet them there, put our 500 billion a dollar a year army to good use and obliterate isis. Beat their prophecy, you greatly damage their recruitment.

Al Bagdadi will possibly be there as well. If we can get him and smash their army in their prophetic battle to end all battles, they will crumble.

Our current security measures are more than adequate.

That was so well proven in California.

If the media toned it way down, and focused on things in a more rational fashion, we'd see fewer terrorist attacks than we have now.

Yeah...if we ignore them...they will go away...

I am intrigued...

Sure. We won't allow people to enter or leave the United States.

Except the Kardashians. And exit only. Send them into ISIS territory on a good will tour.

Miley Cyrus will be held accountable for her crimes against humanity.

That would show the terrorist we mean business!

Construct walls around San Francisco, Austin and Hawaii.

San Francisco I can understand. There is nothing in Austin except Steve. Hawaii already has walls around it, otherwise I could walk there.

Close down BBC America.

But they show Star Trek the Next Generation marathons!

No more internet that is not strictly approved by the Committee to Make Sure That Only Good Things are Written About the President (or CMSTOGTWAP).

They are already working on that.

Internment camps for theater actors.

What would James Lipton say?

Only Bruce Willis movies.

Only bad Bruce Willis movies. Which is all of them except the original Die Hard.

Annex Canada.

Can we also ban use of the term "aay." However you spell it.

Since the point of terrorism is to, well, terrorize... it makes sense to limit coverage (or at least limit sensationalizing the events) so as to render the medium through which they terrorize nearly ineffective.

ISIS has their own access to the media. If MSNBC decides to return to around the clock coverage of how all Republicans hate gays instead of Muslims, it won't make a bit of difference.

ISIS wants you to panic and not let in Syrian refugees so that they can kill them all.

That is why they went to Paris? To kill Syrian refugees?

They want you to be afraid, because that's how they gain their power.

They gain their power from the end of a gun. You take their power by permanently ending their ability to use those guns.

But ISIS, or as I would prefer to call them, Daesh... they're weak, honey.

Is Daesh more respectful? Seriously asking, as I don't know. But I have heard ISIS members don't like that name, so you better stop using it as doing so only helps ISIS achieve their goals.

Most of their power comes from fear. Remove the fear, and the battle is already half-won.

Yeah, I saw that one. Parallax was once a Guardian but fell to the Dark Side and embraced the Yellow Essence of Fear.

They'll stop getting new recruits, their efforts will become ultimately pointless, and as such they will die out.

Except that they won't. Psychotic ideologues with guns are only stopped by other men with guns. Wishing the problem away won't make it so.

And I cannot adequately express how frustrating it is watching people falling over themselves with barely contained glee in their eagerness to allow themselves to be scared.

Are you posting this from outside the Haunted Mansion at Disney World?

What a lovely load of 'philibustering' is occuring here

What with Trump, playing Taps for the internet and pages of so-called replies to many quotes >in one post<
I don't wonder the majority are misinformed and mistaken in their understanding

Not 'exactly' what the OP had in mind I'm sure

Help publicize the various Fatwas against ISIS. Let them become a pariah within Islam.

That's not going to work any more than a papal bull would change the mind of Jehovah's Witnesses. And for the same reason.

What might work would be for governments and media to point out the sectarian difference between the Muslims issuing the anti-ISIS fatwas and those who support ISIS.

If they were just you regular, garden-variety everyday mass shooters, would they have slipped under the radar as easily?

Having been left... err... reeling from Anonymous' 'trolling day', ISIS have hit back today by releasing a video showing a representation of their tanks assaulting the Colosseum. An event which i think they believe follows their defeat of the crusader armies at Dabiq. As usual it's heavy on ambition but light on logistical detail.

Interestingly, Rome appears to have suffered some severe desertification. I wondered if this was a reference to global warming, but given that IS are ultra conservatives, they probably deny the existence of climate change....

As for Baerakdar’s claim that, “We did not take up arms to spill blood. We took up arms to spare blood.” That is transparently false. In fact, most of the fighters active in Syria today, are foreigners that are funded, armed, and trained by Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the US. Their job is to tear the country to shreds in order to topple Assad, replace him with a compliant stooge, and divide the state in a way that best serves the commercial and strategic interests of the three main perpetrators.

When we support it but tell the sheep they are enemy and the sheep allow it we get what we got here. Read this article and "Fact gather" instead of letting fear dominate the mind. just a suggestion.

But a papal bull would impact the Catholics. Just cutting off the supply of gullible young Muslims would help significantly.

In this case, the fatwas are coming from non-Wahabi imams who are already getting messages of non-violence from their own imams. This is like a papal bull from the Pope telling Catholics to go to mass.

There need to be Wahhabi imams--and there are a heck of a lot of those in the US because it's the most highly missionary sect and propelled by Saudi money--to issue those fatwas. It's the Wahhabis and only the Wahhabis who are creating the supply of radical Muslims for world terrorism.

No, to keep them. ISIS has a propaganda problem... they can't pass themselves off as a ciaphate with a population... preferably one that can't leave.

Since walling up their borders would be a stupidly unfeasible idea, they know that the easiest way to make sure their subjects stay put is for them to have nowhere to go.
