  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Where are the young earthers.....

That's just the oldest tree still standing, lol. You do not seriously think the earth is only a few thousand years old do you? Cause for real that's :ebil:
I'm young earth creationist.

So humans have all our genetic diversity from a single Y chromosome about 4000 years ago.

If like to see how you justify that massive mission rate.
;) bit of an issue for a 4000 year old flood.
Bristlecone tree age is 4000+ is more accurate i believe.

Did you guys know that the oldest tree in world is only 5,000 years old? Bristlecone pine in california. :ebil:
Yes, I am aware of that.

"Currey got his tree corer stuck in the tree. So stuck that it wouldn’t come out. An unwitting park ranger helped him by cutting the tree down, to remove the instrument, and later Currey began to count the rings. Eventually, he realized that the tree he had just felled was almost 5,000 years old – the oldest tree ever recorded."

And standing dead wood pushed back the direct tree ring data for another two thousand years.

I believe in young earth. For example for the "millions" of years when we were evoloved into "humans", somehow we did not get far technology wise. But yes within the last 3,000 years all of the sudden we went from making fire to nano bots. What happens to all those millions of years when we should have figured out things? I know science has an excuse for everything. Which is ironic. They say we christians believe everything that we say is true. But they do the same. Their "human" scientists who are not super intelligent (not compared to the Creator), with their "human" devices and their "human" ideas are suppose to be more believable. Sorry but I'll believe in God, who knows all, sees all...etc.

Developing advanced technology isn't inevitable, otherwise there wouldn't have been different technology levels all over the world throughout history.

People who live in the jungles of Papua New Guinea have as much potential for understanding technology as the rest of us, but their culture was isolated didn't have the opportunity to reach the population and resources to develop them.

You haven't presented a reason why technology should develop at any given rate. Humans have had writing and some level of machinery for thousands of years... then suddenly we develop the first ever heavier then air flying machine and in less thena century we are walking on the moon.

Your comment "I know science has an excuse for everything." I feel creates the impression that people are scrambling to justify an idea they have decided is true. Evolution isn't a religious tenant, it's an explanation for the evidence that was observed. If science found new evidence that pointed to a better explanation then evolution then evolution would be abandoned.

(Incidentally, I believe you misunderstood whatever you read that said humans were millions of years old as a species. The evidence indicates that Homo sapiens are about 200 thousand years old.)

If you can't believe God's creation, how can you believe his word?

There is no mention of the SUN anywhere in Genesis chapter one.

Are you for real ?
Genesis 1.
15 and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. 16 God made two great lights—the greater to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.
It's doesn't mention the word sun.
It calls it by another name the great light that governs the day. Therefore mentioning it.

Age 1 day 1 Night and day goes with day 4 sun and moon
Age 2 day 2 water and sky goes with day 5 fish and birds
Age 3 day 3 ground, sea, plants goes with day 6 land animals and man
day 7 Sabbath rest

the word Yom means both a day or an age or a period of time.

I can hardly even find young earth Christians on this site.

I'm one of them, but I expect that to identify myself as accepting that the earth is young will earn me flack from others. I will not be replying to the flack.

Well said and documented. Gen 1:16 is specific about the sun being created as one of the 'two great lights'

Actually maybe there is something you can help me with. One of the things that keep we away from old earth creation is that the sun was created after vegetation. In a literal 6 days creation this isn't a problem. What is the old earth explanation of this?

Also I have a question to anyone who believes Adam and Eve are just an allegory story. Why does the lineage of Jesus go back from Mary all the way to Adam?

To answer your second question.
It's my opinion that the creation story up to chapter 4 is a generic Adam and eve which is the general Hebrew name for man and woman. These chapters are a lot more non literal and symbolic till chapter 4
Then chapter 4 gets specific and names Adam and eve as individual specific people because they name the offspring
Cain and Abel. I don't believe they are the same Adam & eve as in the creation story that is ch 1-3 This is now not about creation but the birth of the Israelite people and their history who lead us to Christ as Paul writes.

Is there a name for this teaching? A link? I'm a young earth creationists but I'm not completely opposed to the earth being old if I can be shown that through scripture. Iam however completely oppose to evolution in the sense man came from apes.

I think it's called the Day-Age Theory.

In addition, some believe, as do I, that in the first three days of creation, God created the firmaments; and in the last three days of creation, He populated them.

Yes it's the day age theory. Look it up but there's some very uninformed things said about it on creationist sites.
The whole thing is, if the stars the moon the sun show up on day 4. Everything before it is blown up.
There is no gravity holding the planets in the position that they are at the moment. There would be no plant life on day 3.
So young earther's could explain to me That. and what gave the planets there speed which is stopping them from being pulled into the suns gravitation pull. that would help but there are many other problems as well with 7 day creationism. It doesn't make sense and my God does.
