No belief is being forced on the other children or the parents.

That is decidedly wrong. The school administrators are insisting the employees adapt to the claim the girl is a boy and promote that belief to the other children regardless of the views of either the employees or the parents. The agenda on perfect display.

Respect is an agenda I can live with.

What alternative would you suggest for this business?

What harm is there in that? If I was working in a day care and a kid came in dressed as Superman and wanted to be called Superman for the day, I would. If that same kid came dressed as Elsa the next day and wanted to be called Queen Elsa, fine. It's not harming me at all to give the kid room to have imagination or figure out themselves.

I don't use that word.
If this child in question said her name was Elsa. Then that would be the end of it. I wouldn't be surprised the child in this story. Just want to be like her fathers. And that why this child wants to be a boy. The parents are just very open minded.

No one is claiming neglect, when there is reason to investigate further. They are simply saying, something is giving them concern and it needs to be investigated. It would be up to the investigation, to determine if there is any type of abuse going on.

I'm confused what you mean by that. I'll give you an example of laws in situations like this can be tricky, even insane.

There have been cases where not forcing a child to go through the wastefulness of chemo (which worsens cancer) is considered "neglect". Ironically, there are cases of innocent parents accused of neglect for doing the exact opposite, like that one in CN.

I'm not going to discuss other news stories any further as that would be off-topic. I'm just giving an example of how laws about "neglect" are confusing.

Christians are supposed to be resilient, spiritually strong people, and yet some are losing their jobs over not wanting to refer to someone as they identify themselves?
One would think these people are being demanded to call another God.
This is false martyrdom.

Again, to relate it to this case, what evidence is there that this child is suffering any sort of abuse?

Being trans is not a sign of abuse or neglect. You are even willing to allow officials to disregard a diagnosis of a therapist on a subjective and arbitrary basis, so I have a really hard time believing that this position is really about the well being of the child, but a disagreement with the diagnosis.

We are not at the diagnosis stage yet, you are jumping the gun.

Mandatory reporters, look for signs that draw concern, they are not making a final conclusion.

To give you an analogy, your doctor may notice a mole that looks a little different, but has no evidence it is cancer. A good doctor, will take a biopsy of the mole to assure it is not cancer and not wait until it turns out to be cancer later and have the likely hood of a good outcome be reduced.

It is the same thing with a young child showing up in the manner being described in this thread. Should they just ignore it, or should they recognize the issue as being different and use the same thought process to assure nothing is amiss?

Not always, anyway.

Rarely, anyway. Just like heterosexuals are rarely child molesters.

The funny thing? It has nothing to do with whether they are homo or heterosexual. Despite your statements to the contrary.

You can retract your statements that I was defending child molesters at any time.

Chemo, does not make cancer worse. It has numerous side effects, but it has shown to be very beneficial in many cases.

But, that is off topic and the case being discussed here, is simply about whether someone should have a concern about a young child, in this situation and what should be done about it.

Respect is an agenda I can live with.

Are you about to claim the 14th Amendment guarantees you respect? Please. However what you are defending has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with respect. It has to do with forcing a belief wrapped in an agenda upon those who want nothing of it.

What alternative would you suggest for this business?

If the "parents" of this child want to insist she is a boy, and when the child is old enough to actually understand the issues involved chooses to, that is where it ends. The parents have no right to force their choices on others just to enhance their self-esteem.

I apologize for bringing it up. I pushed the limits of going off topic too much with my example.

On what basis should there be concern? Morally, I don't agree with people changing their gender, but that's not the same thing as neglect.

We are dealing with a case of a child who the parents have told the school should be referred to as male and by a different name. We don't know that they insisted or merely informed the school of the child's request.

My point about the diagnosis was to test your position on what the doctor should do. We don't know if the kid is diagnosed by a therapist or not, but you indicated that it wouldn't matter if the doctor disagreed. I'm shocked that you would consider that appropriate actually.

Again, with your cancer screening example, you are taking an example with definable reasons for the doctor to suspect a problem, which would be within his medical training, not disregarding the practitioner of a different skill.

Are you suggesting instead that the child's parents be forced to accept your opinion of "normal"?

It's amazing how many times I reference the 14th Amendment in this topic.

I'm still waiting for a definition of this big, scary agenda everyone is talking about.

If the "parents" of this child want to insist she is a boy, and when the child is old enough to actually understand the issues involved chooses to, that is where it ends. The parents have no right to force their choices on others just to enhance their self-esteem.

They are the child's parents, not "parents".

There is no indication that this is being forced on the child.

Most children can identify their gender and that of others by age 4.

I remember a case where the parents did the opposite, that you are describing. Then the teen killed her self. Leelah Alcorn
That's not the topic. The topic is potentially the opposite, as well as teachers being fired for not referring to a girl as a boy, even though the girl didn't always want to be called a boy.

I said if the doctor did not feel the therapist was qualified to assess the child, based on their credentials. Which, besides your instance otherwise, is something a primary care physician is fully qualified to assess.

If the child has been evaluated by a therapist trained in dealing with children and this type of situation, the doctor would rely on those findings.

Leelah Alcorn's parents were denying her stated gender identity and tried to force another one on her.

The implication in the OP is that the parents in this case are denying their child's actual identity and trying to force another one on the child.
