Why Do We Not Use The Name Of God YHVH?

I live in the Question if Elohiym is the Father and YHWH is the Holy Spirit or the other way around, but the text suggests that Elohiym is the Father because of the use of the word "God" in the new and old testaments. Now to think of YHWH as wisdom, it would make sense YHWH's invested interest in the teachings specifically.

Elohiym is a word for God, or god...or humans. For example, Elohiym is used in reference to Moses in scripture, but also in reference to YHVH.

Why use 'God' or 'Lord' when those aren't names?
For one thing, and as can be seen on these forums, there are only about a dozen different variations of the name you are advocating, and each poster apparently thinks that it matters a lot that their exact version of it is the only correct one.

Yes, there are a lot of variations, no doubt.

"……in each age that God personally does His own work, He uses a name that befits the age to encapsulate the work that He does. He uses this particular name, one that possesses the significance of the age, to represent His disposition in that age. God uses the language of man to express His own disposition. Even then, many people who have had a spiritual experience and have personally seen God still feel that one particular name is incapable of representing God in His entirety—and what a pity that is! They do not call God by any name, and simply call Him “God.” Their heart seems full of love, yet it also seems beset with contradictions, for they do not know how to explain “God.” What God is is too bountiful, there is simply no way of describing Him. There is no single name that can summarize God’s disposition, and there is no single name that can describe all that God has and is. If someone asks Me, “Exactly what name do You use?” I will tell him, “God is God!” Is that not the best name for God? Is it not the best encapsulation of God’s disposition? So why spend so much effort seeking the name of God? Why think so hard, going without food and sleep, for the sake of a name? The day will arrive when God is not called Jehovah, Jesus, or the Messiah—He will simply be called the “Creator.” At that time, all the names that He took on earth shall come to an end, for His work on earth will have come to an end, after which He shall have no name. …… Do you still seek God’s name now? ……You should know that God originally had no name. He only took on one, or two, or many names because He had work to do and had to manage mankind. Whatever name He is called by, isn’t it freely chosen by Him?“ from The Word Appears in the Flesh
hope to help you !

Thanks for your thoughts.

Yet scripture indicates that a specific someone said that was their specific name.

Indeed, it is a proper way of referring to God the Holy Trinity. That being said I am disinclined to see it used in preference to the word "God" because this would be contrary to the established modes of use.

Very salient point. Romola's shared passage is pretty good too.

I know "God";
I don't much know "YHVH." (In fact it looks pretty strange.)

Surely we are not trying to introduce strangeness into our understanding of God?

Tell me, why does knowing the name matter? Does it grant you some kind of magical power? Do you think it is proper to address God by His name as if he were your buddy? You wouldn't do that to any earthly dignitary, would you?

Addressing God by name is important to God.

Prove it.

Exo 3:15 God said moreover to Moses, “You shall tell the children of Israel this, ‘Yahweh, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is my name forever, and this is my memorial to all generations.

This would suggest that YHVH isn't Jesus.

But Jesus is the salvation of YHWH, there are three persons in the trinity, if you make Jesus YHWH then the count is a twinity for the OT. Jesus is the voice of God who walked around in the garden during the cool of the day. In the beginning was the voice, and through the voice of God all things were made.

Well, if you need to nitpick, remember when Jacob wrestled with God? and asked his name? God said why do you ask when you know it is a secret?

How does this prove that God wants us to use his name? He was revealing it to Moses.

There's more to the story....

Exo 3:16 Go and gather the elders of Israel together, and tell them, ‘Yahweh, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, has appeared to me, saying, “I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt;
Exo 3:17 and I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, to a land flowing with milk and honey.”’
Exo 3:18 They will listen to your voice, and you shall come, you and the elders of Israel, to the king of Egypt, and you shall tell him, ‘Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Now please let us go three days’ journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to Yahweh, our God.’

God isn't a name.

You said that in the first place and I was surprised nobody called you on it. "God" and "Lord" are of course names, nouns used as ("personal") identifiers.

What do you think a name is? Is it not a term by which someone or something is referred to, identified, addressed, etc.?

Is HE perhaps telling Moses: Yah, "the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob" (who is sending this to you), this is my name. (Or "THIS" is my name?)
In other words, one of THEE OTHER names of God is: "the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob"?
Or in shortened form (a sort of nickname?) "The God of the Hebrews."
There may be features of Hebrew grammar that would make this a very questionable interpretation - I do not know.
