The OP brought up Sanders as justification for his position on Trump.

Just rebutting the OP. Try to keep up. Thanks.
Noting that the word "Sander" does not appear in the OP.

An elaborate treatise on a fundamentally flawed philosophy like socialism does not equate with intelligence.
It's not "fundamentally flawed"; we can disagree about matters of opinion, but we should be able to agree on facts. The fact is, Sanders' "socialist" policies are already common across the first world, especially in the very most successful countries. You can argue about the "correct" definition of socialism (though I'm not interested in that conversation), but Sanders' version of socialism is extremely successful.

But, if Donald Trump had a website full of socialist rhetoric as Bernie Sanders does ... then you would not be calling him an idiot.
Trump has a website full of no ideas. I listened to his Dallas speech yesterday. He could not stop talking about himself and how rich he is. He had no specifics....the same specifics missing on his website.

If Trump had a website with any ideas ...

... they would most likely be idiotic. So it's kind of a lose lose for The Donald

In Dallas, he said he is going to take back 2.5 trillion dollars from other countries.

Only an idiot thinks that one can get blood from a turnip.

LOL, or one familiar with accounting tricks.

Claiming 2.5 trillion being taken back should be child's play for the Donald. For example, if he simply stopped sending foreign aid to all the mideast countries engaged in war against us that would add up to trillions over some number of years. Voila!

It guarantees votes when he runs for re-election.

No, I still would be. I didn't mean to imply that Trump is an idiot because he's not a socialist or Sanders is smart because he is one. Socialism isn't a test of intelligence.

Then he misspoke. Idiots tend to do that.

Nope, not what I said.
Apparently, "what you said" doesn't matter much in this thread anyway. The premise of the title has never been verified; you have never offered any proof that Trump is an idiot. But you got to make a statement, which was the intention from the start.

Socialism isn't a test of intelligence.
That's true. Neither is Fascism, Naziism, Maoism, etc. These are tests of one's morality, not tests of intelligence.

When reality is your truth, you don't need "proof."

How do you plan to convince them to continue to buy US-made military hardware, as opposed to cheaper Russian and Chinese alternatives, if the purchase is not accompanied by a hefty chunk of USAID?

Doubling the size of the national debt as Sanders is demanding is NOT going to be successful, I can assure you, regardless of how appealing the theory of Socialism may be to you.

LOL, good question should that tactic become one which Trump employs.

wuuuuuuut... How many years are you talking about? All our foreign aid combined—to the entire world—is 0.2% of our GDP, less than 1% of the federal budget. All our foreign aid to the Middle East combined, including our allies, is $5 billion. If you don't include Israel and Jordan, it's less than $1 billion. So yeah, your estimate is right if by "some number of years" you mean millennia.

OK, let's look and see just how idiotic it would be if Trump did as I suggested.

First, your own numbers are way off base. Here's reality ...
foreign_aid_as_share_of_us_budget_2012.png

1.4% of 2015's $3.9 trillion budget is north of $50 billion ... which would take about 50 years using my earlier logic. That's longer than most people like to use, even when talking about the federal budget, but not totally unrealistic.

Yeah, Trump might want to find another $50 billion or $100 billion per year to fill the claim ... but then cutting foreign aid wasn't Trump's example was it. That was merely an example I offered to demonstrate how politicians typically substantiate such seemingly outsize claims.
