  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Can you show me anywhere in the Torah where it limits the amount of beef or lamb a person is to eat in one time period?

If the Torah says that unhealthy foods are just fine, then how can it be said to lead to a long life?
I am going by what science says. Yes science right now is a little stricter than the Bible. The Bible like the American heart association does allow some meat.

Many recent studies have shown, red meat is not the villain it once was thought to be. In fact, several studies have shown people who eat a diet high in fat (including meat), have lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol and lower risk of heart disease.

The real villain is eating too much refined sugar.
It's the corn syrup sweetner that is causing a lot of the increase in diabetes. The pancreas has not evolved to the point where it can produce insulin for the new GM foods that science is producing right now.

Evidence?

By the way, the pancreas releases insulin when you eat anything, it is just more aggressive when what you eat is refined sugar.

Then why were you talking about what the Bible said? Where does the Bible not allow for lots of meat in a diet?
Are you really trying to argue for a high calorie low nutrient diet? There is an extreme amount of confusion about what is good for you to eat. McDonald's spends huge amounts of money trying to convince people their food is good for you when there is nothing good about it at all. So I understand your concussion. It's evidence that science can be bought for a price and the truth about what is healthy can be suppressed.

I don't think McDonald's touts themselves as selling health foods, or even close to it. There is some evidence, that burgers are not as bad for your health, as once thought.

Familiar with this trend, but it appears more studies need to be done, to determine whether corn syrup is worse than regular sugar and some scientists are not convinced.

Furthermore, the major risk for diabetes, is obesity.
Of course some scientists are not convinced. The soda industry is very powerful and doing a good job of deceiving people.

Here is what you said earlier:

"Which makes me wonder why people say we do not have to follow the diet laws in the Bible when science can show we do have to follow those laws if we want to live a long life."

Those laws say nothing about having small servings of meat.

Yea, that is why I asked him to list the diet laws of the bible.

Science is failing to get the job done. They often do more harm than good. Heart disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity are all preventable. Yet science for the most part is failing to show people how to get through the mine field of all the obstacles they are putting out in their worship of the almighty dollar.

I find it strange that you would say that science failed when you also think that science has found preventative measures for all of those problems.

Not quite, there are independent scientists, that are not convinced.
It's not my job to convince them.I only need to convince me. Actually I learned most of this diet stuff when I went through therapy after a surgery I had. I have been reading books and found out surgery and drugs can be avoided through the right diet. Many studies have been shown the benefit of a high nutrient low calorie diet.

Yes they failed because they know the truth but rich CEO's suppress the truth so they can stuff money in their pocket. I have been reading Dr Dean Ornish reversing heart disease and Campbell's "China Diet" and the PBS book "Eat to live".

Are you trying to argue against any of these books?
