This faith that we all talk about? Where does it come from?
All men have been given a measure of faith. Faith comes from hearing and hearing by the Word of God. We are saved by grace through faith and that is not of ourselves, but the gift of God. I have been crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I but Christ lives in me and the life I now live in the flesh, I live by THE FAITH of the Son of God who died and gave Himself up for me. This faith comes through the Holy Spirit who is the Lord's spirit that was in Him when He walked on earth. love-sam

Faith comes from hearing and more specifically hearing God's promises. The promises of God are 'faith food' not the law.

This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Hi Droobie, Everyone here has pretty much answered what I would say; but just adding that to me..Faith does come by hearing and hearing does come from the Word of God..but this means more than just reading the Word of God..it means asking for the gift of faith which God gives freely to those who ask so that what we read or hear can work in us. Such faith is given by God through grace and we draw from that gift which is within us..

God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. And as Holy Spirit is God..the Holy Spirit gives the gifts..So, yes, basically this gift of faith comes from God.

If we feel we are lacking in faith..we are to pray and ask for the gift. And even if we have been persons of faith for many years we should regularly ask the Holy Spirit (God) for an increase in faith. :prayer:

I suggest reading Hebrews 11..the whole chapter to understand better what faith means to the people of God..then as it does now beginning with the first verse: Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." :amen:

peace and blessings.

Faith: Faith is the combination of Belief and Trust. Thus when it says in the Bible to have Faith, it means Trust and Believe in the Lord Jesus. By the meaning of Blind Faith, it means we cannot see Jesus, but we know He is there. Faith through Prayer means we believe Jesus heard our Prayer and we Trust Jesus will do something about it. For some it is hard since they just believe, but yet do not know Jesus well enough to Trust Jesus. So that is why the Bible is the Key to knowing how Jesus is, thus understanding Jesus, then Loving Jesus, then Trusting Jesus. Then, when you have all those, You have Absolute Faith in Jesus. The Bible is the Key to knowing who Jesus is, it is the first thing to use as your guide and understanding why, how, when and where. Let your heart open up to Jesus in Heaven and you will find the rest and just Believe.

Faith comes from YOU, not God. Jesus said, Have Faith. That means you are to develope Faith to Trust and Believe in Him. Jesus also mentioned if you just had Faith (Believe and Trust absolutely) that you can move mountains. God Bless.

Faith is a decision or a desire.

Faith is like an open hand, expecting the gift to appear, so that it can receive it.
Sometimes, the hand gets tired, but it remains open.
Faith is like expecting the gift, which your best friend has sent you by the post.

Love likes to be trusted, in order to be accepted. If it is not trusted, it feels rejected.

The mysteries of Faith

1) Taking that leap of faith required to believe in God

2) Demonstrating obedience and faithfulness

3) The faith to move mountains, walk on water, and trust in God.

4) In Mathew 21 Jesus tells us to ask for anything in faith, and believing that we will receive. If we don't believe then God can't help us. Without faith it is impossible to please God. For he that seeks God must believe he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.

The last one is the most interesting, and very few, if any, have this kind of faith today.

"Faith is evidence of reality not yet manifested. Faith is more than believing, it is a knowing. All Reality is Awareness manifesting a possibility from the Infinite. Once you grasp Faith in all its meaning you realize you can grasp the ideal out of the Infinite with your mind, your awareness will be complete, your Eternal I Am will fully awaken and nothing shall be impossible unto you!"

Note: I don't think everything on this site true, of course, as such only the Christian faith is worth anything, IMHO, but the seven wisdoms do apply.

Now in order to NOT doubt, is the hard part. A woman who immediately runs out to rescue her child from beneath a car suddenly gains the strength to lift it. There was no doubt in her heart, only the definite and absolute need to rescue the child to such an extent the possibility of failure and rational science completely vanished from her mind.
