Because of Adam’s transgression, man was sealed to a vain life and there was nothing he could do about it. All that was left him were instructions by God on how to overrule it to avoid damnation. These instructions came originally from God directly but later by way of the prophets of God who gave forth His Law that needed to be obeyed to make the promise by the keeping of it, effective. There was no other way, no other arrangement or option for man to consider. It would be either God’s way or the highway.

It was in Adam, who was purposely subjected to vanity to prove him and later confirmed to be the reason by the record of Cain. Vanity would be shown the greater power over man and revealed by God to be a sealed ‘spiritual’ entity that would continually seek to rule from within him that man had to overcome.

One other effect that Adam’s transgression had upon man by Adam's removal from the garden and the Tree of Life, was that it kept God on the outside of him which made only vanity, the spirit of “Self” indwelling him with exception of it being overruled by the sovereignty of God that His pre-plan of redemption be furthered and His ultimate intention for having created man, come to fruition. Originally God and Adam walked together in the Garden. Adam was an eternal being at the time.
But Adam choose to not allow God to rein and to see life from the outside. Turning away from God
meant they were no longer in fellowship. The advantage is that Adam and his descendants must
choose to be with God. The down-side is that many do not so choose.
