  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is there an answer to this question?

No, I don't think so. But this begs the question of what is consciousness and what is it's source.

I suspect that you mean "that invites the question", begging a question used to refer to an error in argumentation that is also called circular reasoning. But I think it invites a whole class of questions including "How much do spirits weigh?" and "How can one detect things that weigh absolutely nothing?"

Interesting idea, I presume the idea is "electrical impulses in the brain". Would one get some thoughts if one ran an electric current through a cadaver's brain?
No the brain tissue would be dead by than and I don't think it would replicate the electrochemical signals the brain uses.

In essence, who are we?

Has anybody got an answer to the first question in the original post?

"Why is logic true?"

I'm not sure logic is true it's such a subjective exercise in thought. I guess if it was pure logic, i.e., not tainted by our subjectivity, then it would be true. It would verity truth.
