I doubt this standard could be upheld given most modern definitions of proven and wrong, but that doesn't mean the Bible must be historically and scientifically infallible to have merit.

Scholars usually work more towards determining the meaning of the words and historians work more towards determining if the words have historical credibility.

Anyone can write anything in a book from 2000 years ago. How the words are passed on in subsequent copies over the centuries are what scholars determine the accuracy of and meaning. Historians determine again, if what is written, has any level of historical credibility.

Really, two separate issues.

No, I don't. But then, I don't care if there is a god, let alone the Biblical God.

Here's my take on it though: If you believe that the Bible is true, 100% literal true, then why do you care if I agree? You have your faith and that's a beautiful thing, enjoy it for what it is.

good question. if you ask what I believe, that's cool, I might share a little. but I have no pressing urge to tell you if you aren't interested. when I share my heart, I really am not looking for criticism or little digs. I would be sharing something deep to me because it would be part of a growing relationship.

If one reads it it the Uber literal sense then absolutely not.

The Earth is not flat. The Sun does not orbit the Earth (which contradicts the Earth being flat). Pi is not equal to 3.
