I was given a 100 New Testament and Psalm…long story…should I give them out on Halloween along with candy?

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't know, I haven't had trick or treaters for 7-8 years. I'd give them candy I suppose, but Gospel tracts are for kids with adults. Put them with big candy bars and it they dont want a gospel tract give them a fun size.

I have 100 NT in the NLT...how else can I get them into the hands of the people.

There are 1,000 ways, but I would not participate in Halloween for any reason that I can think of.

I handed out cards with things like a card with 'Jesus is a faithful friend' with related verse on it with a lollie. They had a kid friendly picture on it. I got the cards from the Christian bookshop.
One year when my mum did this as a child walked away with a smile Jesus loves you card she asked her Dad 'who is Jesus?'.
That is why it is good to give some good truth to the children that come to the door. Who knows if theyre having a hard time sometime they might see that card and know Jesus cares about them. Its a wonderful opportunity I think.

This thread was started last year. The NT’s are long gone. I gave them to a local Bible for Missions where they will be handed out to thrifty shoppers at no charge.
I participate in holidays and treat them as secular. Christmas, Halloween, whatever. They are all just days to hang out with family and friends, sharing meals and fellowship with believers.
