No, but the way I've seen you explain it in previous posts is definitely minimalist!
The one's you've written about this subject in the past. Don't ask me to search them out. You ought to remember what you believed in the past, it is probably what you believe now.
It is amazing how far folk will go to minimise statements made in praise of the blessed virgin Mary. Truly amazing.
...supremacists and superlatives are inseparable.
Are you offended that I don't consider Mary to be my only spiritual mother?
Not offended but amazed ... not surprised but almost dismayed ... it isn't that I expect you to behave as if you were a Catholic Christian. It's more a case of watching the comments made in the thread, the squirming and wriggling in words and ideas and all to diminish Mary as if she was somehow to blame for those things that some of you think excessive in the devotion of others to Christ and God through their praise of Blessed Mary.

Do you see these biblical women as your spiritual mothers?
Mat 12:48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
Mat 12:49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
I'd still like to know what others think of these verses as far as Christs answer goes. Had he wanted His mother to have more prominence would He not have said things just a little bit differently?? If He did not place her above His disciples, why would anyone else do so? I do believe her position as His mother demands respect--just not adoration.
Some yes, others I am not sure if they were mothers ....I haven't checked their stories recently.
None of them is mother of the church. Wasn't that the title that prompted all this? Mary being mother of Jesus Christ whose body is the Church therefore implying that Mary's motherhood has a a spiritual link to the Church?

Mother of the Church?
The Church has NO mother.
PS. I believe what prompted this was the statement that "if you claim to be part of His Church you must have Mary as your mother".

That's strange, I could of sworn that Jesus had a mom, and her name was Mary.
I also seem to recall Scripture calling the Church the Body of Christ.
Probably my imagination.

Well, I am very sure that Jesus had Mary as his mother. Isn't Jesus head of the church? So Mary is mother of the head of the church.
I guess this is one of those cases where I see matters in a different light from you. God bless us both ... I sure hope he will![]()
