Hi Pubbies

Extended period of AWOL from here, for which my only excuse is that life has been crazily busy. Have to say that it's not looking like getting any quieter in the next few weeks either, as heading off to do the 192 mile Coast to Coast walk in two weeks time, and lots of prep needed for that.

I WILL make more effort to get in here though....

Andy - your feet shouldn't be in that state with all the walking you seem to be doing - Look to the fitting of your boots

As I was doing the walk anyway, I figured somebody should benefit from it

One of the girls at church has a 3 year old son who has type 1 diabetes, and his life is basically controlled by it. recent media reports are suggesting that stem cell technology may actually provide a means for the pancreas to heal itself, thus providing a cure for diabetes.

So although it's too late for me (type 2), it could be that by the time Mikey reaches adulthood then living with diabetes could be a thing of the past, just as rickets, diphtheria etc is for us today.

So called the walk Blisterz4Mikey and am setting out to raise funds for Diabetes UK, to aid their research into a cure for this.

The Coast to Coast walk is 192 miles (if we don't get geographically misaligned...because hikers NEVER get lost), so aiming to raise £1,920.00 for Diabetes UK (so I'd be walking for £10 a mile which is a good incentive when it starts to hurt, which it will). Raised £384 so far, so a good start but a long way still to go.

Be very grateful for any support that can be given, whatever the amount

The boots fit fine. The foot care will be first class, but, sadly, over that length and that terrain, some blisters are inevitable. Did Cleveland way last year (120 miles) and picked up three, but nothing too serious.

no teasing tonight please - definitely not in the mood for that - too much going on . Just had a 45 min Skype with my priest friend in New York - he's got quite a few problems there .

Unfortunately the doggie walk was not too successful. But at least I tried. That's all I can say

Grrh - just taken my hearing aids out so I can blast next door with some decent music - I'm fed up with them playing rubbish in their bathroom - it's through the wall from my sitting room.

They now have the pleasure of the Elgar cello concerto at full blast !

We are lucky at the moment as our neighbour (he was the orthopaedic surgeon at our hospital - top one) decided to quit and leave England and go to the UAE. House is empty and no noise whatsoever which is a blessing as when he was here he used to be absolutely RAVING down the phone at people yet in Clinic and to his patients he was goodness itself. A real gentleman but a raving lunatic at home LOL

We have an eye surgeon living across the road - and he plays heavy metal rock stuff - and the beat really gets through everything.
