  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Don't base your faith on "feelings" -- there's nothing in the Bible
for taking that approach...there is however, plenty about following
the Lord, relying upon Him and The Word, trusting and believing
in Christ and God's Word etc.

If you have made sincere repentance then according to God's Word,
you're forgiven.

Ive been where you are. The Holy Spirit will not enter an unclean vessel, so, heres the order to get filled with the HS presence again :

1. Confess the recent behavior youre finding yourself in. Admit its wrong and ask God to cleanse you of it.

2. Turn from it and don't return to it even when its tempting. Instead, remember who you serve.

3. Daily, pray to God and tell him you want to be used of him. Ask for the HS to come into your life so you can minister, serve, and show others the love of Christ. He will appreciate your zeal.

4. Priase God daily.

5. In the quietness of your own room/place, spend personal deep reflection time on Gods greatness and how he saved you and guarantees you a place in heaven forever. Let your praise and worship flow . Keep on doing it for a long time. Expect the HS to visit you during these times of praise.

6. See if you can get into a church, at least partime, that has deep praise and worship times together and where its not rushed . God isn't on our timetable, but we need to be on his.

7. Finally, turn from anything that is displeasing to God. Examine your lifestyles and choices. Remember to remain a clean vessel of righteousness, purity, and set apart for God.

The HS will gladly come to a person like this.

Hmmm...Well, you might start by understanding the Christian faith a bit better. Are you a born-again follower of Christ? If you are, you have become a "temple" of God's Spirit (1 Cor. 6:19, 20), you have the Holy Spirit living inside of you. Once within you, the Holy Spirit does not withdraw. He doesn't come and go depending upon how righteous you manage to be. If you are God's child, you have been "sealed unto the day of redemption" (Eph. 4:30) by the "earnest" or downpayment of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 1:22; Eph. 1:13). The Holy Spirit is God's "guarantee" of your adoption into His family. And this guarantee is never revoked.

None of what I've explained above is true because you feel it is. The facts of God's Word are what they are regardless of what you may feel about them. So, not having a feeling of God's Spirit within you does not mean He is not there. I suspect what you are lacking is close fellowship with God. But don't mistake this for a loss of your relationship with Him. You will always be your Heavenly Father's child. God does not rescind His adoptions. However, the joy, peace, and contentment that flow out of walking rightly with God will be absent in the life of one who is not obeying his Creator. But the absence of these things points only to a spiritual "blockage" that can be removed by simple confession and repentance from one's sin (1 Jn. 1:9), not the loss of the Holy Spirit, which would mean the loss of one's salvation. In light of all this, it is a mistake to seek to feel the Holy Spirit. Feelings are notoriously variable. They are not to be trusted.

"Feelings come and feelings go,
And feelings are deceiving.
My warrant is the Word of God.
Nought else is worth believing."

You have been accepted by God only because you have been placed "in Christ" by faith in him as your Saviour and Lord. How good you are has nothing to do with getting saved and it has nothing to do with continuing to be saved. You have been clothed in Christ's perfect righteousness and this makes you acceptable to God.

Galatians 3:26-27
26 For you are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Ephesians 1:6-7
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he has made us accepted in the beloved.
7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Selah.

idk .correct me if I'm wrong but the holy spirit doesn't go away..maybe you feel what you feel is because you know what you did was wrong and so you feel bad/depress because your conscious is speaking. that's a good thing,it shows that you care, i know we are not suppose to grieve the holy sprirt also.

You're probally right I just worry. I'm having problems believing in gods word at the moment unfortunately but god defiantly has a plan for me and everyone

I feel you. There has been a time where I had felt like I went on a streak of not reading the Bible and I've said things I really should not have and done things I really should not have and my life was a mess in that time. I am starting to get back on track and reading scripture, listening to sermons and praying more.

I think if you look at Jesus and scripture, the Holy Spirit will find you. But looking for some feeling to come over you or a sign is not the best indicator of you being a believer/saved.

It's unusual that Jesus, once resurrected in heaven, did appear briefly in physical form on Earth and then decided to remain in heaven, while Satan secretly does his deceiving, as in your case, struggling to believe and understand the Word of God without Jesus as our Savior of Truth and Justice by our side:.
That's why faith is like water as the Word of God is seeded in your heart, and activates the supernatural-ability of Christ-righteousNess, even if you struggle with your mind to understand it, the power of Jesus shines his attitude of peace and joy through our faith-hungry hearts:.
Faith is unseen evidence as Jesus exists in spiritual form and is our "attitude corrector" if you like during our life journey as a Christian.:
Faith is also future-coming unseen evidence in that the reality of Christ's personal identity, along with our future-coming free-for-all home accommodation: the kingdom of God that defies logic when it comes to providing enough space for every saved individual since Adam and Eve were born -
will transform our Faith in Jesus into Fact, knowing that physical evidence of Jesus will be as clear as daylight, not just his physical+spiritual presence but also our newly transformed minds and bodies of Christ where youth, health and safety will become maximum qualities of our new eternal lives, it's as if painful depression or human tragedy-driven experiences such as from vehicle accident victims, can never be negatively felt because of the ever-abundance of Christ's supernatural peace and joy:.
May Christ's patience and peace be with you during this not-yet-all Christian world until Christ's Second Coming where nobody knows when he will come unexpectedly.;'*';.

Remember that God's Holy Spirit is not just a power, but His presence. A personality that responds. If you told off-color jokes to a friend and they got quiet, you would change the subject to something more positive and productive.

Our thoughts should not just be wwjd; but what do we do, knowing we have this incredible presence of God residing within us! It is an incredible thing to know God is always with us.

The Apostle Paul once boasted...

And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: - 1 Corinthians 2:4

And then...

God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them. - Acts 19:11-12

Then... What happened?

Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick. - 2 Timothy 4:20
Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities. - 1 Timothy 5:23

It looks like the Apostle Paul lost the Holy Spirit's leading. I for one do not believe that the Holy Spirit is a constant in the believers life. We all love it when he is there to the point we can sense it. But there are times when we do not feel it. In these times we must stretch out in faith and abide in prayer.

And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; - Luke 18:1

And then Jesus goes on to tell about the widow that kept coming back. So there are times I believe when we cannot sense the Christ or his Holy Spirit in our lives. It is in times like these when it is a good thing to have our faith kick in.
