If we find an volcanic ash layer above a fossil layer, would this mean that the ash layer was laid down after the fossils?

1. Embedded age occurred during the creation of the earth before the fall.

2. Fossils did not appear until after the fall. Therefore, after embedded age.

Then why do fossils date well past 6,000 years? If they did not occur until after the fall some 6,000 years ago, all fossils should date less than 6,000 years.
