I would also have made an excellent pope. I could have solved all of the scandalous issues facing them, and made their future more secure. Though the present pope does seem to be doing the best that he can do.

Meh... I'm not so sure. S&G hasn't always been interpretted as about homosexuality. Romans 1 has an entirely different interpretation. For the amount of time the conservatives spend talking about modern homosexuality is completely out of proportion with the amount of time the bible talks about sex and the amount of time Jesus spoke about it (never!).

Perhaps they just use it for their agenda, moreso than the bible being especially homophobic.
