  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Which came first? plants or animals?

Biology and information science both follow the outline of entopy.
Things cannot become more complicated or more intelligent.

They can, when the entropy of a system must increase, it must end up with a resulting greater increase of the chaos of the universe by the entropy of the surroundings ending up with an even larger entropy to counter the increase in order caused by complex life. Also, the earth isn't a closed system, we have the sun's energy to power complex life.

Then I guess there are no hurricanes, tornadoes, stalactites, sand dunes, crystals, etc.

It was a housefly of the type bought at a store for flytrap food.

 flytraps don't do well with dead food. Sometimes products are sold to take advantage of ignorance. It probably ended up plopped onto a sensory hair but without movement never incited the plant to form the digestive seal, which is triggered by movement. You can feed them dead stuff, but you have to simulate movement by shaking and pressing gently at the sides of the trap.

If you tried to feed it right after getting the plant, it could have even gone into shock.

Btw, are you aware that they are perennials and will have the leaves die back for dormancy when temperatures near 50 degrees or when light isn't sufficient?

They are one of the easiest carnivorous plants to grow if you know what they need, but one of the easiest to kill if you do crap wrong.

I know that it had to move to trigger the trap, I remember I triggered it and it closed around the fly.

And then they have a secondary mechanism that rejects food if it doesn't keep moving, which is why they won't try to digest something like a rock.

Then what's with this stuff?

If bacteria is the answer, why is my question garbage?

And for the record, if I'm supposed to believe I'm a mammal ... does that mean I'm bacteria as well?

A basic scientific education will answer these questions, AV. Most kids here in Australia graduate from school knowing the answer to this. Why do I get the feeling that even if you were told the answer, you;d just ignore it anyway?

Which is exactly what creationists shy away from, they know knowledge kills religions and ignorance encourages them.

I don't think they all know that, probably religious leaders do though. Plus, plenty of educated people are religious.

If USincognito thinks it's "garbage," is it okay with you if I think the same thing?

We don't. The foundation of modern science is thanks to ardent creationist believers, with solid biblical training.

I'll thank you in advance not to use me as fodder for post count.
Ditto for you, chief.

And for the record, I think my question is a good one.

Meaning scientific methodists will either ignore it, or bury some kind of cheap answer in verbose chatter, so one cannot pwn them without they having one or more escape clauses.

And they contributed to science despite their religious views, not because of them.

Animals came first. Only 13 year olds who play videogame "pwn" people. Plants didn't kickstart animals, and animals didn't kickstart plants, rather, they share a common ancestor.

You're a little behind in this thread, aren't you?

It's already been answered.

Never hurts to answer again. Knowledge is a good thing.
I have a feeling you chimed in just to ridicule my use of the word "pwn."

But that's certainly your prerogative, and I wouldn't expect anything less.
