I hear both sides of this; good and bad. I am a Christian who is a strong believer in the Lord but I have many tattoos and love them. Any thoughts?

I think it is dangerous to decide from our own experience what is right and what is wrong. We need to base our actions on the Word of God. Christians are called to separate from the world ~
2 Corinthians 6:17
(17) Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
When you look around, can you see a difference between those who call themselves Christians and those who don't? The line is so blurred any more, you can barely tell by looking at people who are Christians and who are not. The Bible calls for Christians to separate from the world in many ways, how we talk, how we dress, how we look, our entertainment, how we raise our children, and the list goes on and on....I believe there is NOTHING Christian about Tattoos and Piercings, and Blue Hair...those are all the things of the world...and we need to give those things up for the Lord.

. The problem comes when you try to impose your will on other people and claim it is Gods will. i know my God a way better than that.I pretty much agree with tammy, but since you already have some I wouldnt worry about it. Though I wouldn't advocate getting any more. I dont know if you were a Christian before getting them, but I find former gang members, deviants, etc with tattoos who later turned to Christianity interesting. Their bodies sort of tell a story of their former life, and their turn to Christ.
Im not saying youre anything like a former gang member because of your tattoos. I understand that its more of a fashion statement today, and they often have no real meaning anymore.

If you're a Gentile Christian rather than a Jewish Christian, there is no commandment against you getting tattoos. Have fun, use common sense, don't grieve the Spirit with your choice.
search the Scripture for truth, if it is possible for you to know it. (Yhwh willing).

I have tattoos it doesn't matter, the law was for jews not to do so they would stand out be separate from the pagans. I think as long as your not worshiping false gods, and I also feel it depends on what you put on your body, like a tattoo of satan not such a great idea, a tattoo of a cross i don't see anything wrong with that.
I have a white lion with blue flame for a main and eyes. It represents Jesus in my heart. I also have a blues player playing guitar against a flame. I use to play guitar and was in a band. to me it now means the trails I go through in this life and the music is Gods word. I also have a blue dragon which reminds me to be as wise a serpent and as harmless as a dove as Jesus said. I think it all depends on the meaning.
I am going into ministry and I think you will find there are many of us with tattoos pierced ears or blue hair. I have found it is actually a bridge it puts you on a real people level and people are much more willing to open up because they see you like them. Most the people who preach against it are older, they did not grow up in this generation where tattoos and pierced ears and blue hair was common. When they grew up well as my dad said only prisoners have tattoos. I said well how do you explain it I am not a criminal yet i have tattoos and my ears are still pierced from my youth. And that is the older view that criminals have tattoos women wear ear rings and freaks have blue hair. I think we should separate our differences, there are far bigger issues than how a person looks. However I think dressing to attract sexual attention whether it is man or woman is wrong.
I also agree that there is nothing wrong with tats on Christians. Sometimes it's cultural, or personal (meaning to the person, not for public view), or it can represent out faith. It can also be mickey mouse! There is nothing scriptural that forbids it for us.
Just my opinion.
Now if a Christian goes and gets a tat of a demonic caricature...that's not cool in my book.
If a person got one before he/she found the Lord, I don't think they should be ashamed, but should not show it to others. It would be easy to say for them to get it removed. THAT's expensive!
Tats depicting the cross or the crucifixion are fine by me, and if done well are works of art. To many it is a sign of their faith.
Now if you were to talk to an authentic Calvinist, that's a no-no.
I however am in the Wesleyan camp.He had many tattoos.
Nah just kidding about Wesley, I feel good tonight.![]()
