  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Actually, being repeatedly assaulted by religious extremists is why I have never attempted to follow a religion... Every time I try to investigate the possibility of being religious, I get physically or emotionally attacked by religious extremists for not immediately converting. The environment becomes so hostile I don't want to risk it anymore.

I got through them.. So can you.

God created what we call intelligence. You can find that out to be true in an experiential way hopefully some day. I hope and pray that you do.

The very things men of genius marvel at, was created by the gentle Lord of Creation. Who also shows his might in the very things he created. He has a sense of humor, too. Some of creatures reveal this. He is also the Artist of artists. Look at the breath taking beauties found in nature. He is the phenomenal artist! The Scientist of scientists... And, most of all.. Though all mighty?.... humble and meek. Its why he allows men to reject him and does not force obeisance. He is not Allah, who is Satan's answer for God to man. If you were in born and living a Muslim nation, you would not be wearing your head right now if you tried to remain being the independent thinker that you really are.

Like I said... I got through them.. So can you.

We're all different. But, God remains the same.

Its something we all need to be shown at some point.

Hell will cease to exist. Hell will be thrown into the Lake of Fire. Where Hell is now is only temporary. Its a holding place for unbelievers awaiting the final judgment.

Revelation 20:13-15

And the sea gave up the dead which were in
it, and death and Hell gave up the dead which
were in them; and they were judged, every one
of them according to their deeds. Then death
and Hell were thrown into the lake of fire. This
is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

Hell will be thrown into the Lake of Fire after all in Hell are judged. Hell will cease to exist. The fire will burn forever.

Dear genez, Amen. Exactly.

In Love,
Aman

One was altered, one was not, but with irony that is probably lost on you, yes, they are both a product of peoples' imaginations.

Dear Davian, The one on the right is the altered one. The original photo shows a tablet with a hand written message. The alteration was adding the text, which is in a computer font, equally spaced, with identical ts. Everything else looks original. The right one also appears to have a little more contrast, but it's the same as the one on the left except for the altered message. Correct? God Bless you.

In Love,
Aman

Correct. Did you also note that the two messages have essentially the same intent?

This has happened 4 times, different sects of Christianity each time.

Who assaulted you physically? Extremists are kot representative of moderates.

I was physically removed from a Catholic Church at age 15 when I refused to drink the wine that represents the blood of Christ because I was underage and didn't feel comfortable doing it.

You would think they would use grape juice for all the under aged people.

(Note, I have personally made the decision to abstain from alcohol).

So you encountered a nut job :) they exist in every religion or belief system (or lack of belief system).

I live in an area with a lot of churches, so again I will mention that I was essentially driven out of 4 of them.

I'm scared to go to church and give it another chance! How bad does my luck have to be that I am rejected by 4 different sects of Christianity?

There are bad people all over and of all different beliefs.

Have you rejected church because the message is not something you can believe, or because you have had bad experiences with certain people?

Dear Davian, Yes, but I don't agree that the Spirit of Love is to be feared. Respected, yes, but Satan is the god of fear, and not Jesus. Also, the soul is NOT tortured forever since the soul is the living breath from God. When the sinner is righteously convicted of being evil and cast into the Lake of Fire, he is in the Hands of God. Jesus said:

Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

God, being merciful, will withdraw His breath and allow the sinner to die, and be left in the burned out Cosmos we know today. Those who respect Him will pray for Him to cut short their terrible misery, which they deserve, and He will. How long they suffer is their own decision. God Bless you.

In Love,
Aman

15 year olds can be fairly obnoxious ;)

They weren't all the same year, I get a scared period after each incident.

Timeline: age 13 baptist church, went to the church of my late grandmother to cope with the loss of two relatives in the same month (both a great grandmother and my grandmother on my dad's side). I respected both women greatly, and I have many strong female figures in my life. I stayed a member for about 2 months I think before the sexism upset me so greatly I could no longer take it.

Age 15, you already know that one.

Age 16, Methodist, this is the church I stayed in the longest, a bit over half a year. A new extremist member joined the church and began to harass the more moderate people, myself included. I wasn't the only one to leave.

Age 16-17, sought out a new church after leaving the Methodist one, decided on Nondenominational. Can't remember how long I was there, not too long, a creepy guy kept hitting on me and tried to follow me home. Thankfully, my step-dad was picking me up and was able to get that guy to stay away. I never went back. Interestingly, the people there were pretty ok with me being undecided, that creeper just ruined it.

I have really bad luck with churches, it sounds like a bad soap opera ;(

This doesn't quite match your original story that you had been studying religion seriously since you were 8 and rejected it based on solid analysis ever since. You are 18 so your church experience is recent. And that isn't abuse btw. That is just you disagreeing with their style or content.

I never said I stopped being an atheist. Even while attending I never was a believer.

I was trying for it though. The shock of both of those people being lost in my life made me hope that I could avoid the grim reality of them being gone by believing they weren't. But not once did I find god in a church or anywhere else, just people, seeking answers.
