  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes, his height is changed by different manuscripts, but whatever height he really was, does not matter, both heights have not passed away have they? We know in the oldest Hebrew and Greek texts that he was around 4 cubits tall.

Changing and passing away is a different story. Neither height has passed away.

Wow. The mental gymnastics some of you go through to justify your beliefs.

I already answered your question. Using a secular definition of omnipresent for a God of the holy Scriptures is not going to work logically.

Thanks for admitting that. Because I can, and did, make the same logic argument without using the word omnipotent. The same logical contradiction exists here:

1. Nothing is impossible with God
2. It is impossible for God to lie

Both cannot be true. It is a logical contradiction.

The Scriptures define God's omnipresence.

When you have to redefine meanings of words...you have lost the argument.

Unlike you, I have studied this topic intensely from both sides of the debate.

Did you know that most New Testament scholars admit there is a discrepancy between Mark and Matthew about the date of Jesus' birth? Probably not.

Herod died in 4 BC, but Matthew states that Jesus was born during his reign.

Luke states that Jesus was born in the Syrian governorship of Quirinius, which didn't start until 6 AD.

There is a gap of 10 years there. Jesus could not have been born in both.

Please don't post an argument for this until you have found the ONE that works. Then when I show you how that one is wrong, too, you won't keep moving the goalposts and changing your story about how it really happened.

I assure you that I have read all the arguments. And all the arguments fail.

As Sayre pointed out in one of her posts, it is highly likely Anya has never even thought about investigating the NT from a scholarly and historical standpoint.

Why can't you just answer a question, why do you always put in strange phrases? If you don't know the answer just say you don't know.

Do I know what sin is? You mean in the christian sense? Um, I'm a bit vague I have to admit, but generally it seems to be about fleshly desires. But the trouble with discussing sin is that it leads on to questions of right and wrong and morality and creationists don't usually enjoy those conversations as much, which is why I lightheartedly questioned whether you knew where you might be heading.

Wow. The mental gymnastics some of you go through to justify your beliefs.

The unpleasantness brought on from cognitive dissonance, can indeed promote some creative explanations, to make the discomfort go away - at least temporarily.

How many times do I have to tell you that I was raised a YEC? I was a practicing Christian till I was 30, and only accepted my atheism a few years ago.

Ok? You never told me that, but thanks for telling me that.

The point of this question is to see how much knowledge you all have about the issue of sin.

Sin blinds us to seeing God, to finding evidence of His existance, to walk away from Him, to get confused. Sin affects us physically, mentally, emotionaly. Sin affects the world around us. Sin blinds our minds and eyes.

Study, study all you want both sides of any issues, but using other sources will never be as trustworthy as the Bible.

Science stemmed from Christian men, Christianity existed long before and the belief in God.

Anyway, why would you be a practicing Christian for 30 years and turn away from it so easily?

Whenever I feel like walking away from God because I feel very angry or something in my life just hardens my heart against God, I think of this:

O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be!
Let Thy goodness, like a fetter,
Bind my wandering heart to Thee.
Prone to wander, Lord I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love,
Take my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy Courts above.

Its a hymn "Come Thy Fount of Every Blessing" by Robert Robinson.

Just remember God never walks away from you, stay strong, and don't give up.

Yes fleshly desires is one of them, sure.

I was heading in the direction of why you all don't want to believe in God, or to see evidence for Him.

There is no evidence. If there was, everyone would accept that God exists. "Wanting to believe" has nothing to do with it. God has to be accepted by faith, not evidence, even the Bible says so.

Yes, I'm getting there. Haven't had much time to study you know. Toddler, twins, rough rides here and there. And I'm Young, I have plenty of time to study in the future.

But thanks for the input.

No you don't understand.

If you look at your life from the outside. What kind of things are you involved in? What kind of thoughts do you have? What kind of secrets are in your life?
What kind of people do you hang out with?

Doing what the Bible says is wrong, hardens are hearts against God. Over time we are so blinded by sins that we can not see the love or goodness of God. Niether do we feel Him.

God is never hiding from us, WE try to hide from Him. We want to do what we want to do, the world looks appealing to us, so we head in this direction.

That's all there is too it. The only way you all will start to see God or to feel Him, is by changing your life and giving your heart to God.

I know fear is overtaking you and its what is stopping you too.

Happens to me too, don't worry.

The evidence is His Creation, the world, the animals, the humans, the planets, etc.

If you were sick, would you accept medical advice from someone if they never had any medical training?

In the same light, putting so much weight to a book written by many unknown authors 2000 years ago without a thorough analysis of it's historicity, is only setting oneself up for disappointment.

Just because a lot of people believe it doesn't make it true. And I believe Hindu has more followers than Christianity.

But if this is predicted thousands of years ago, and also hundreds of years ago?
