  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

mmm worms. I'll have one miss.

Missing the mark? Eg:Gods standard of perfection or 7 out of 7. Excellent and perfectly balanced.

Jesus said 'be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect'Mat 5:48. Impossible in the old man sinful man nature but doable if we have His Spirit. He makes a square peg fit in a round hole because of Christ.

Ed: Lol sorry i keep tripping in to your thread thinking its a new one.

Go ahead and provide a list of objective evidence to support the bible.

A list? You are too greedy. You can not even digest one.

OK, here is one: There are Christians all over the world.

Oh, I think we could, but so far there is nothing to get our teeth into.

OK, here is one: There are Christians all over the world.
In your world, juve, that is objective evidence to support the claims of the bible? And you seriously have the temerity to speak boastfully about logic and science?
Go and stand in the darkest corner of the room, juve, where you will find a tall pointed hat with a capital D on it. Put it on your head and stay there till you are given permission to leave.

Just because a lot of people believe it doesn't make it true. And I believe Hindu has more followers than Christianity.

Questions left unanswered by anya:

If Jesus was born in 5 or 6 ad, how was he born during the reign of king herod? Herod died in 4 bc.

Besides, just the other day, you were claiming Jesus was born in the year 0. Which is kind of funny, since there was no year 0.

In fact, people think different dates for the birth of Jesus. And they believe more so that Herod died around 1 BC

• Reason to think Herod died in 1 B.C. based on the amount of time he served after being appointed king by the Romans.
• Reason to think Herod died in either 2 or 1 B.C. based on the amount of time he served after conquering Jerusalem.
• Reason to think Herod died in 1 B.C. because of the lunar eclipse that occurred before Passover.

That reminds me, you never answered my question...

If not one jot or tittle will pass away, why has goliath's height changed?

In the dead sea scrolls, and other early manuscripts, goliath was not 6+ cubits tall, he was only 4+ cubits tall.

Yes, his height is changed by different manuscripts, but whatever height he really was, does not matter, both heights have not passed away have they? We know in the oldest Hebrew and Greek texts that he was around 4 cubits tall.

Changing and passing away is a different story. Neither height has passed away.

No we aren't. Please do pay attention. I asked you how its logical for nothing to be impossible for god, when lying is clearly not nothing, and is impossible for god.

Wrong! Omni means ALL. It's kind of the point. Why do you get to exclude anything from OMNI?

I already answered your question. Using a secular definition of omnipresent for a God of the holy Scriptures is not going to work logically.

The Scriptures define God's omnipresence.

...she asked innocently. Whether she was aware of the can of worms she was proffering with such a simply put question, it was impossible to say.

Why can't you just answer a question, why do you always put in strange phrases? If you don't know the answer just say you don't know.

Yes, there are so many objective evidences that you didn't give a single example!

I did earlier to Mr. Strawberry about his wiki website page to debunk prophecies.

The very first prophecy about Tyre, I explained how the wiki site is just wrong and the author has no knowledge about prophecies and the Bible.

Anyway, I explained how the prophecy about Tyre has been fulfilled.

Is there any objective evidence to support the view that the bible is the word of god?

  • The Bible provides its own context and chronology.
  • Its revelation begins with creation and tells the story of God, the world, his people, the prophets and the Messiah, right through to the age of the resurrection.
  • When the Bible gives various commands or announces the gospel it does so within a context that it itself has revealed.
  • Thus, to understand the Bible you only need the Bible.
  • The Bible is self-sufficient, as the word of God should be.
Comparing the Bible and the Qur'an how to do it accurately

(I was looking to see the difference between the Bible and the Quran, in fact you really can't compare them lol!! The Bible is just amazing, full of history, prophecies, spiritual matters, and on and on and on!!)

Are you aware of the gravity of sin and the way it has/is affecting mankind and the world?

Do you know what sin is?

How many times do I have to tell you that I was raised a YEC? I was a practicing Christian till I was 30, and only accepted my atheism a few years ago.

Of course it was God's commands!!! It was description of the culture back then. The author's were not justifying anything, they were writing down what God said and what happened.

What a loving God you worship, then.

Voila!

Unlike you, I have studied this topic intensely from both sides of the debate.

Did you know that most New Testament scholars admit there is a discrepancy between Mark and Matthew about the date of Jesus' birth? Probably not.

Herod died in 4 BC, but Matthew states that Jesus was born during his reign.

Luke states that Jesus was born in the Syrian governorship of Quirinius, which didn't start until 6 AD.

There is a gap of 10 years there. Jesus could not have been born in both.

Please don't post an argument for this until you have found the ONE that works. Then when I show you how that one is wrong, too, you won't keep moving the goalposts and changing your story about how it really happened.

I assure you that I have read all the arguments. And all the arguments fail.
