  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Who said Job was blameless?

Before answering this question let's go to the end of the story of Job. This is kind of like one of those movies that shows the ending at the beginning of the movie.

Job 42:7 After the LORD had said these things to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite, "I am angry with you and your two friends, because you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has. 8 So now take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and sacrifice a burnt offering for yourselves. My servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to your folly. You have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has." 9 So Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite did what the LORD told them; and the LORD accepted Job's prayer

Job 1:8 Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil."

Question:

Was this God's view of Job

or

was this Job's view of himself repeated to Satan by God?
Seems as if Job himself didn't know, or, he was speaking of not knowing his own self in this verse. Interesting questions tho.
What is your view?

Job 9:21
“I am blameless, yet I do not know myself;
I despise my life".

What i find most interesting is the conversation that transpired between God and Satan, unbeknownst to Job, but even moreso, going back to the very first verses in the very beginning of the book of Job, how Job was described, also unbeknownst to him.

Please take note of the names of these three men (Job's so called three friends):

1] Eliphaz

2] Bildad

3] Zophar

Notice that whatever these three said to Job, about God, was incorrect. See Job 42:7

What i find most interesting is the conversation that transpired between God and Satan, unbeknownst to Job....

So the question is why did God present Job as blameless?

Again, was this merely Job's claim that God was presenting to Satan or was it God's view of Job that He was presenting to Satan?

Well, we know God removes His protection from Job (we shall see why later).

The question is did God actually do these things to Job or did Satan?

Well, who does Satan and other men blame?

Job 1:11 "Stretch out your hand and strike everything he has"

So Satan blamed God for what Satan was about to do.

Job 1:16 "Another messenger came and said, 'The fire of God fell from the sky and burned up the sheep and the servants, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!"

So who gets the blame for all these terrible things?

God!

Who was the one doing these things?

Satan!

So keep in mind that from the mind's of men God was doing these acts towards Job.

As you will find out this is exactly the view Job's three friends took.

Isnt that what a Bishops blamelessness is judged by? Isnt it judged by whether he does right or wrong?

No, it's not the same. Can we look at this a bit later? Right now I would like to continue with the story of Job.

What wrong was Job accused of?

Kindgdom Bible Studies Job

I am thoroughly convinced that Job is none other than God's Christ. The first man Adam walked in the same land of fertility, the Kingdom of Heaven on earth, in the quickening presence and shimmering glory of God — but when the adversary appeared and he was put to the test — he flunked the test.
But blessed be God! the second man was tested in all points like we are and — He passed the test! When the Lord Jesus told His disciples
that He beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven
, He was saying that He had seen Satan FALL OUT OF HIS (JESUS') HEAVEN, or actually Jesus had seen Satan FALL BEFORE HIM and become subservient to Him in the realm of spirit.

So far as Jesus was concerned Satan was no longer in possession of any authority whatsoever. Jesus spoke not of a historical event, not of some mighty archangel that was expelled from heaven before the foundation of the world, but a living reality that He had seen occur within His own consciousness, life, experience and ministry. THIS WE ALL MUST SEE AND KNOW if we are to know victory in our lives, if we are to truly walk as the sons of God. We must realize that if Satan has fallen he is not the powerful and formidable head of a mighty kingdom, but he has been stripped and his kingdom broken. This must be embraced as a wonderful reality within ourselves. When we realize that Satan has fallen before the Christ within us, then we really will be set free! When this truly happens we are on our way — not to a rapture — but to that high and holy position that God has created for us and determined to bring us to.

Was this Job's view of himself -

The LORD said to Satan - "the LORD said" - he is blameless and upright a man who fears God and shuns evil - God said it so it would seem to be God's view of Job.

So keep in mind that from the mind's of men God was doing these acts towards Job.

As you will find out this is exactly the view Job's three friends took.

The arguments of these three friends — so called comforters — is typical of the Eastern mentality and is typical of human mentality. If you read their arguments all through this book — and their argument was wrong, it was not based on truth and, therefore, at the end of the book God rebukes them — they were saying that the reason he was suffering all these calamities plus the boils was because there was some secret sin in his life and that God was punishing him.

Job had apparently bought into this mentality for he strongly defends his righteousness before his three friends. This we will see next post....

Yes, but as another person pointed out Job was not present when God was talking to Satan. Job had no idea what was going on.

So either God was expressing His view of Job before Satan or God was presenting Job's view of himself before Satan. I take the latter view. I will explain why.
