Hey, if Megyn Kelly resigned, like Bashir did, and I didn't have to hear about either of them, that would be just great with me.

The so unfortunate thing about that comparison (given it isn't a usual dog and pony show for the masses) is that Bashir fell into Palin's bait. Palin isn't stupid... she plays stupid on TV err... in politically televised programs. She knows the dingy things she says will be ammunition for people who realize the obvious. Bashir took her "racism" bait, and went full on with his, and got fired from it (yea fired: in corporate world you can resign or be fired.)

Bashir probably didn't get the memo that these talking heads just say things to get ratings, attention, and supporet. But, he most certainly had a point in his rant...

Jesus was Semitic. Most likely Looked like those in the middle east do today. What exactly makes one "white" ? If being "white" means looking like Hitler's ideal Aryan, with blond hair, blue eyes and a pasty complexion then I don't qualify as white either nor would just about anyone from the middle east or the Tamil or Sicily or southern Spain or the Ainu or even Hitler for that matter. So is everyone willing to say Hitler was not "white".

Jesus was portrayed in art as being white starting in the Middle Ages. Prior to that time he was portrayed as a Semite with very dark hair, eyes, and skin.

I don't know about the story of Christmas because I don't really celebrate it. But, I have heard that "Santa Clause" was Turkish :D.

You can even watch the Young Turks show and see Turkish people have melanin - enough so that they don't evaporate on a summer day in the desert.
However, at the time of Saint Nicholas, the peoples of the area of Turkey were caucasian (understand that Turkey is right by the Caucasus, which is where the name came from) - similar to todays ethnic persians who are white and reside largely in Iran.

The darker skinned Turkic tribes that give Turks of today their coloring, were in Siberia and Mongolia at the time of Saint Nicholas and itwas not until several hundred years later that they migrated and invaded the area of Turkey.

Oh I know well of the geography of travel. Yet and still, this is why I sai melanin content - not outward sight or nationality determines one's "ethnicity." As I said before, there are cubans who are leperous as snow, but they have a hue that suggest they have melanin content capable of trumping the threshold of melanin needed to burn one's skin. Turks have this also. And, obvious Black and Africans have this.

Nope, white-skinned romans and greeks (the latter of which lived in the partiular area) populated the area, not magically changing their melanin content.

They did? Interesting.

I didn't say anything about magical melanin content. Look at the petroglyphs. It is what it is.

As I sais before, the derogAtory comment on black men and women "not beling able to swin" is very scientific: it has to due with muscle and bone density.

Melanin, if you look at the actual molecule, had less absorbapce of solar radiation in lighter to white skinned people than it does with Black or dark skinned people. Science. That is why ethnics other than caucasians were used for slaves. Their bones and skin were more suitable for outdoor activity.

I appreciate scoffing (in the sense of what it actually means,) but revisionist history tends to create confusions in real academic dialogue.

I'm glad to know this. I like to keep track of the race of mythological characters.

Except Jesus isn't "a mythological character". No serious historian doubts that He is an historic person that really existed.
The differences of opinion come into play, when the question "who was He?" is asked.

Whether he is from Lapland or from the North Pole, Santa Claus is an indigenous circumpolar person.

(bolding mine)
Santa Claus is from Greenland ;)

Jesus was born in the Middle East from ME parents, meaning he was dark skinned.

Santa: lives in the North Pole, no one lives there, so we must look from where he came, I believe Santa Claus originated in Europe, a mix of English and dutch.
http://www.stnicholascenter.org/pages/origin-of-santa/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Claus
Pre-modern representations of the gift-giver from church history and folklore, notably St Nicholas and Sinterklaas, merged with the English character Father Christmas to create the character known to Americans and the rest of the English-speaking world as Santa Claus.
In the English and later British colonies of North America, and later in the United States, British and Dutch versions of the gift-giver merged further.
So I believe Santa is probably white.

Semitic people are Caucasoid, mostly white, in other words.
From "thefreedictionary.com" defining "Semite"

Semite [ˈsiːmaɪt] less commonly, Shemite
n
1. (Social Science / Peoples) a member of the group of Caucasoid peoples who speak a Semitic language, including the Jews and Arabs as well as the ancient Babylonians, Assyrians, and Phoenicians
2. (Social Science / Peoples) another word for a Jew [from New Latin sēmīta descendant of Shem, via Greek Sēm, from Hebrew Shem]
That said, I'll repeat what has undoubtedly been said several times elsewhere on the thread (I've not got the time nor patience to review each post): Megyn Kelly did not say "Santa and Jesus are white." She said both are perceived culturally in the U.S. as being white. There is a huge difference in those two statements, and those quick to condemn FNC tend to want to believe she said the first. She did not.

LOL, no. She said Santa is white and Jesus is white. She didn't say anything about culturally, she said they are white.
