  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How does one explain things like this:

"At the age of six, child prodigy Akiane Kramarik began painting with the skill of a seasoned veteran — all with zero training. Despite being raised as an atheist, Akiane says that it all began when she received visions of Heaven that ultimately expanded to the face of Jesus."
12-Year-Old Prodigy Raised Atheist Paints Visions of God and Heaven

Or Hellen Keller, blind and deaf from 19 months on, she eventually learned sign language.

"When Keller was young, Anne Sullivan introduced her to Phillips Brooks, who introduced her to Christianity, Keller famously saying: "I always knew He was there, but I didn't know His name!"

I would probably get moderated if I answered this, so for the record, I'll post a verse and let it go at that.

Mark 13:21 And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not:

Some people have pictures of [who they think is] Jesus hanging on their walls.

That's their prerogative, but if they knew what diabolical impersonation was, they might think again.

I would chalk this up to what we call: A sign of the times.

How do we know that they are accurate pictures of god/jesus/heaven?

Let's see, lots of cloud. Bright radiant light. Fairly white God, yup that's him alright. Now we would know that she was mistaken if she painted God as one of Them.

You're reading this discussion using technology due to the fact that science works.
You want to talk about computer science? I looked to see what Wiki had to say about it. They say that the first was Pascal who just so happened to be a Christian philosopher. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_philosophyI do not know why they put him there in the beginning. Time and again it is a Christian that is there in the beginning.

That is the same way we know the Bible is true.
Nope.

So. What?

Er...so? It's no secret that many of the early scientists were Christian. What does that have to do with the veracity of Christianity? Do you, for some reason, think that we believe scientists are never wrong? We don't even agree with everything Darwin said about evolution...why would we summarily accept everything that science giants say about everything?

That isn't how science works. A theory stands on its own merits, its data, not what one legading proponent says about it.

Besides, some early scientists were also non-Christian. So, y'know...there's that.

Dear AV, A little Trivia for you. Do you know the name of the former quarterback at Pittsburg who had a Christian hit in the 80s? The name of the song was Dime Store Jesus and Terry Bradshaw was the singer.

In Love,
Aman

So show us the scientific research that supports a young earth, a recent global flood, or recently created species.

All you really need is a bit of common sense and your eyesight to find the evidence for that.

Appealing to common sense - one of the favorite tactics for people who don't actually have an argument. 'I don't have to explain why I'm right! It's just common sense!'
