  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

As far as I remeber there is no Primitive Baptist church that would disallow membership based on your personal view about the consumption of alcohol. I am quite sure they would make accomidations for your personal convictions in this matter. You are free to exersize your priesthood and freedom in Christ to make up your mind on issues such as these.

In Him,

Bill

I have been learning more about Primitive Baptists for the last few hours, and I have to say I agree with most everything I have read from their website, the one problem I had was it says that they drink wine at Communion. However, I do not believe in drinking alcohol, never have, never will. So I was wondering what is the Primitive Baptist stance on drinking alcohol? Also, they are very traditional, so what do they wear at services? Any other information about the denomination would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
I was raised a PB and can tell you that wine is used in the lord's table. For most PB's it isn't one that they will compromise. They don't pay their Elders/Pastors so most if not all of them work a public job. They do not believe in music in the church or in Sunday School. Their music is accapela (sp?) but some of the most beautiful singing you will ever hear. It is often more emotional though rather than worshipful.

They preach election for the most part to the exclusion of all else. They hold to "time salvation" and their view of the church is something akin to the RCC except you are not saved by baptism. Most I know have no real assurance but that is because they are true Hyper-Calvinists.

I realize that is painting with a broad brush and that there are some who are different than what I knew them to be but all of them I ever knew all over the country were what I just told you.
