  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why do we want to teach our children science?

Best not to mention your idea that the flood waters were transported to Neptune to warn off bad angels. ;)

*sighhhhh......

There's no evidence for a flood, chief. This is a mythical story. Nothing more.
Noah's flood is a composite of all the floods and all the extinctions. For example when the ice melted there was a massive world flood around 12,000 years ago with massive extinctions. Yet a few survived to repopulate the earth. There is a reason why the story has survived this long. There is a reason why generation after generation teaches the story to their children and passes it on to the next generation.

Yup.

Noah, in my opinion, lived in [what is now] New Jersey.

Placing him in Mesopotamia is a cheap shot that allows one to claim the Flood was local.

We can know for a fact that it was in New Jersey because New Jersey is the Garden State. A direct hint that our forefathers knew were the garden of eden had been.

Non sequiter. Separate floods are evidence of .. separate floods. Separate extinctions are evidence of.. separate extinctions. It is overly simplistic to assume they all represent the same event. BTW the "massive extinctions" you refer to occurred mainly in North America and mainly of very large mammalian species. It was therefore hardly "massive."

You should really apply this message to yourself and creationism in general, before applying it to others. Its creationists like yourself who assume they have all the answers without even looking at the evidence.

How dare you!

Kent is known as the Garden of England so it's clear that this took place there!

No one is claiming to have all the answers. I struggle with trying to figure out why we know as little as we do. It is like trying to put together a puzzle and not knowing if we have all the pieces or not.

Sure, and every single piece of the puzzle we've ever found has been through the scientific method. There isn't one piece that has ever been revealed through special revelation or the bible.

There is only evidence that positively demonstrates that there was not a recent global flood.
I like how people first start out saying there is no evidence for a global flood; then, when someone agrees, switches to saying there is evidence of no global flood.

In short, they say:

  1. No evidence of a global flood.
  2. Evidence of no global flood.
As if they're covering all the bases.

But the indications for safe use did not, not even by the wildest stretch of creationist imagination.
The point that was being made though is: consensus of opinion.

The Bible has answers and solutions that Science does not have. It was after I tried everything Science had to offer that I turned to God for the answers and solutions that I was looking for. I had very high expectations for science but for me it turned out to be a lot of hype. They just could not deliver on what they said they could deliver on. Hawking says that he does not need God because science can solve his problems. For me Science does not do good enough to solve his problems. If he is happy then good for him. I am just saying science is not enough for me. I want more. I am looking for what God has to offer us above and beyond what Science can do for us.

There is LOTS of evidence for a global flood, just not 4,300 years ago when Noah was alive. Even there is substantial evidence for a global flood 12,000 years ago.

If that's what you believe, that's your prerogative.

Science says otherwise, though.
Even there is substantial evidence for a global flood 12,000 years ago.
That's a neat trick, seeing as the earth has gone around the sun <6100 times.

If the Flood occurred 12,000 years ago, then there's a lot of names missing in Luke 3.

We always here this from creationists, but they never come through with the evidence when asked. Strange thing is, the ice cores in both Greenland and Antarctica show no signs of any flood through that entire period. Even more strangely, the Egyptians were building their pyramids throughout that time period. Did they have to use snorkels?
