Just wondering if anyone has read this book?

Is it any good? What weaknesses do you think were contained in there?

It seems, he's a YEC who thinks a literal approach to Genesis should be employed.

I have not read the book, but I can tell you that Ken Ham has a track record of spreading misinformation and falsehoods, and I really don't think he will deviate from that path anytime soon. I will look for the book and try to read it.

I suppose it depends on whether one is interested in science or not. If one is interested in science, there are many actual science books to consult. But if one is interested in the faith based beliefs of a small vocal subset of Christianity completely free of scientific rigor then I would assume Ken is the guy.

I have not read this but most people on here are more than aware of Mr Ham's work in setting back science several hundred years.

Awhile back, we have one poster here who was a climatologist, so I posted some things from Mr. Ham's book, just to keep the poster from getting too bored.

He ended up leaving anyway, but here's one of my posts, and the resultant replies from the ... um ... educated here that I've come to expect: 1.

It won't be long before he is out and making a fortune again, I bet there are thousands who can't wait to throw their money his way and he will take all they can throw.
Some people even when they are shown will just not see perhaps because they do not want to, he is a con artist who will resume his old ways the day he is released.
In the meanwhile his son has done a good job keeping the suckers warm for him.
Why do people not even check to see if he is telling them the truth, why don't you all do him a favour and back him up with real science?

You are correct, he is mixing them up. But I fail to see hatred there. What I do see is frustration due to the fact that both of them (Ken and Kent) keep repeating lies and misinformation about geology and evolution. I do wonder how you would react if someone started publishing book after book with lies and misinformation about the Bible. Not even the hated (and that is really hatred) Richard Dawkins does that.

Yes I did confuse the two and yes there is hatred involved but not for them, the hatred is for what they are doing to extremely gullable people, it's the government and the authorities who should be showing the hatred.
But of course the authorities can do nothing because people have shown that they are only too willing to be fleeced,
that's why religions are heaven sent for the con men, and that's why there are so many religions, so many in fact the con men can all have one each, even when the con men get caught they are allowed to come back and start where they left off.

So if someone complains about someone who is putting out flawed or bad information, then they are bashing ALL members of <insert random group here> just because that person happens to base their pronouncements upon the view of a small minority of the larger <random group>?

if I find Ken Ham's view of geology to be flawed at a fundamental level because it doesn't match up with how real geology works then I am bashing all christians???

AV, I will be 100% sincere with you here. What Ken Ham and Kent Hovind do to science is the equivalent of someone saying that the Bible says that Mohammed is the son of God, and not Jesus. It is that bad. Again, sincerely, I invite you to criticize evolution and geology, as much as you want, but only on scientific grounds and after you know what they are. Ken, Kent and the like only spread falsehoods and misinformation about them. The link that you gave earlier in this thread is a prime example.

That's why I keep saying: you want to say that creation was a 6-day miracle? Go ahead. You want to say that the flood was a miracle that left no trace? Go ahead. It is your choice to believe in such things. All I ask is that you don't misconstrue science to pretend that it supports such beliefs. Again, if science really could "take a hike" you wouldn't need to do that.
